As we build our presence in Portugal, we are looking for a skilled professional to drive commercial development and lay the foundation for successful market growth.
We are now seeking an experienced and proactive Sales Manager – Portugal to lead our commercial activities for the Portuguese market from our regional office in Madrid.
About the Role
This role will take responsibility for sales strategy, partner engagement, market development, and performance execution in Portugal. It is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment and is comfortable managing both strategic planning and hands-on field operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Planning & Business Growth
* Define and implement the overall sales roadmap for Portugal, including quarterly and annual objectives.
* Track performance, monitor KPIs, and adjust strategies based on sell-in/sell-out results and market dynamics.
* Support the rollout of product introductions, pricing actions, commercial programs, and retail campaigns.
* Prepare structured reports, dashboards, and performance reviews for management.
2. Market Development & Relationship Management
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, stakeholders, and potential business collaborators.
* Identify growth opportunities, new regions to prioritize, and potential commercial partnerships.
* Lead market readiness activities, ensuring alignment on operations, product knowledge, and commercial execution.
* Frequently visit key regions in Portugal to oversee performance and support business activities.
3. Market Insight & Competitive Understanding
* Continuously analyze the Portuguese automotive landscape, including competitor activities, pricing movements, and consumer trends.
* Identify gaps, opportunities, and strategic directions that support Changan’s market positioning.
* Provide data-driven recommendations to influence both local and regional decisions.
4. Field Support, Coaching & Activation
* Provide training and support on product knowledge, sales processes, and CRM tools.
* Support retail and market activation activities, launch events, test-drive programs, and local marketing initiatives.
* Improve sales funnel discipline, lead management, and conversion effectiveness together with local partners.
5. Cross-Regional Collaboration
* Serve as the primary link between the Portugal market and the HQ.
* Coordinate with marketing, logistics, aftersales, finance, and HQ teams to ensure smooth commercial operations.
* Support forecasting, allocation planning, and overall market readiness.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Automotive or a related field.
* At least 5 years of automotive sales experience, ideally with OEM, importer, or large retail group exposure.
* Strong understanding of the Portuguese automotive market and its commercial dynamics.
* Proven experience in driving sales growth, managing key partners, and developing market presence.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* Analytical, structured, results-oriented, and comfortable with both strategic and operational work.
* Fluent in Portuguese and English; Spanish is a strong advantage.
* Willingness to travel frequently between Madrid and Portugal.
* Strong proficiency with CRM/DMS tools, Excel, and PowerPoint.

* Experience with EV brands or fast-growing automotive companies.
* Existing relationships with Portuguese automotive partners.
* Background in market entry or early-stage business development.
