THE OPPORTUNITY:Title: Senior Network EngineerLocation: Madrid, Spain - 100% remote roleFlexibility for occasional travelPermanent role, full time employeePrimary purpose of the role:The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the operational excellence of our global network managed services, assuring reliable, responsive and secure operations. The Senior Network Engineer engages with customers around the globe on new installs, provides incident management to troubleshoot problems, and recommends and implements improvements in our network environment.Senior Network Engineers also lead in the evaluation, installation, and support of network communications equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and application delivery controllers/load balancers. This role will collaborate with Network Tools and Architecture to implement approved network designs, standards and products. In addition, the Senior Network Engineer is responsible for testing and evaluating network systems to troubleshoot problems, recommend, and implement improvements in our network environment. He/She will implement or adhere to processes for monitoring/alerting, systems maintenance, change control and incident management.Your role in our mission:- Configure, install, support and maintain customer facing and internal data center infrastructure (20%)- Configure, deploy (racking and stacking), support, and maintain the network hardware and software infrastructure, including routers, firewalls, and switches for our BMS, Security, and EPMS terminations. (20%)- Identify, analyze, and resolve faults ranging from major network outages to customer escalations. (20%)- Routine preventative measures such as network monitoring, security, upgrades and maintenance. (20%)- Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps- BGP, DNS, DHCP and network monitoring such as fault reporting, traffic analysis and data collection with SNMP.- Collaborate with network architects, network operations teams, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth integration of new technologies and adherence to standards. May mentor junior network engineers and support staff- Willing and able to work within a 24/7 operation support model, including weekends and holidays.Functional Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science/other technical field or five to ten (5-10) years of experience in lieu of degree - required- Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in a mixed vendor 'mission critical' environment – with customer support experience preferred and track record of delivering complex projects with little supervision - required- Network technologies and protocols including BGP, HSRP, VLANs, Spanning Tree, VPN’s, MPLS, IS-IS and OSPF, EVPN databases, VXLAN- Network monitoring technologies and SNMP management- CCNA, CCNP or equivalent certifications preferred- Complex carrier/datacenter network environment experience including a strong ability to utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills- Experience with Cloud On-ramp platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) is a plus- A thorough working knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, Access Control Lists, IP Addressing/Sub-netting, and LAN technologies- Must have the willingness and ability to rack and stack network equipment that may weigh up to 50 lbs.- This position operates primarily as a remote work-from-home role.
