Description Job Title: Production Carpenter - Harry Potter™: A Hogwarts Express Adventure Division/Department: Rail Events Productions/Crew Reports To: Director of Production & Production Manager Type of position: Hourly Employee Classification: Seasonal Compensation: $28/hr Job Summary The Lead Carpenter will work with the Production Managers and production team during preproduction and specified event load-ins across the U.S. to install scenic elements of the event in accordance with design and construction requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work with the production managers and production staff to oversee prep, installation, and strike of all scenic elements Coordinate with production management the rental and installation of necessary support systems for the sets Coordinate with production management the rental and deliveries of any machinery required for installation of the sets Create all necessary documentation for onsite crews to load in sets Visit all fabrication shops prior to installation to see progress and work with shops to develop trucking and onsite install plan Handle all shop prep, refreshing, and required repairs of the sets Coordinate with production management recruitment of the local crew who will load in and install the sets Be available via phone/email throughout the run of events to answer questions and/or troubleshoot Work with the production staff during load out to see that event space is returned appropriately and all scenery is packed properly for transport Communicates regularly with REP staff with regards to creative and practical ideas and decisions as well as project statuses Become knowledgeable with all of the REP policies and procedures as well as the REP-owned assets and equipment Become familiar with railroad safety rules Work with the entire event team to maintain a positive, enjoyable, and rewarding environment for all staff and guests Assist with other REP warehouse activities as needed Other duties as assigned Qualifications Experience as a theatrical technician, specifically a Carpenter or Technical Director Experience with outdoor rigging Experience as an equipment operator Experience with power and hand tools General knowledge of engineering Ability to work alongside the production staff as a team member in an ever-changing environment Ability to work independently with self-motivation and attention to detail as well as excellent organizational skills Demonstrated ability to anticipate, recognize and solve practical problems and resolve issues Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form Work Environment Fast-paced work environment Frequent long intervals of walking, standing, bending, and lifting Domestic travel Evening and weekend work What’s in it for you Serve others and create a world of make believe and magic Great industry pay and a chance to build upon your theater network and make lifelong connections Enrich and positively impact the holiday experience for all – big and small Be part of an inclusive team in a supportive environment with high expectations for self and your fellow teammates Working on Harry Potter TM : A Hogwarts Express Adventure is unlike anything you will ever do.
