- The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D; into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 1000 staff from 60 countries.

In our pursuit, we focus on a wide range of key societal research areas such as Population and Household changes, Democratic Quality, Social Media, Public Opinion and Political Communication, Equity and Welfare in Education and Labor Market, tlegal systems and Legislation, Social-Ecology, Science of Science, and History, Archeology and Cultural Heritage. Employing a mixed of advanced statistical models, AI/Machine Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), Agent-Based Modeling (ABM), Social Network Analysis (SNA), high-performance computational methods are applied to a wide range of large datasets from official statistics, surveys, social media, news, laws, historical archives, current data archives, archeaology data, citizens' volunteered and web-scraping data, and public administration and industry data.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced researcher to work in the field of Complexity Science applied to social sciences and humanities. Experience with social and behavioral data and a solid understanding of computational research in multiple social sciences fields of knowledge are highly valued for this position. You will report to Dr. Mercè Crosas, director of the Unit and of the CSSH department.

**Key Duties**
- Write and submit project proposals of the highest scientific quality to seek competitive financial support at the international and European levels.
- Conduct innovative research in the field of Complexity Science using computational methods. Collaborate with internal and external research groups, consolidating existing interdisciplinary collaborations and forging new alliances to advance in the field.**Requirements**:

- Education
- PhD in Complex systems and Social and Emotional Behavior
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Excellent experience in Data Science, conducting computational social science research, in particular on complex systems and AI Psychometrics
- Proven experience in coordinating and managing research projects.
- Proven track of publications on topics related to Complexity Science
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Prior experience in grant writing and securing research funding from competitive funding agencies.
- Wide research experience in international contexts
- Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English
- Competences
- Capacity to contribute to research projects with novel research ideas and analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to scientific rigor. Excellent communication skills to specialized audiences, co-researchers and other team members.**Conditions**
- The position will be located at BSC within the Directors Department
- We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, versátil working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
- Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
- Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
- Starting date: 01/11/2024
