About the role
DAS Photonics is building a new microfabrication facility for LNOI photonic devices and GaN-based power transistors, including hybrid integration using Micro Transfer Printing (µTP). We are hiring skilled Process Engineers in the areas of:
* Photolithography
* Plasma Etching
* Wet Etching
* Thin Film Deposition
* Metallization
* MOCVD (GaN)
In this position, you will take part in equipment selection and acquisition, process development, and process flow definition. You will be a key bridge between device designers, equipment/facilities engineers, and integration teams .
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and optimization of advanced processes for LNOI photonics and GaN electronics .
* Define the process flow aligned with device specifications and fabrication capabilities.
* Collaborate with device designers to transfer concepts into process-compatible prototypes.
* Drive the evaluation, selection, and commissioning of fabrication tools .
* Set up process control protocols to ensure reliability and reproducibility.
* Troubleshoot and resolve deviations or failures in fabrication.
* Document and standardize procedures for repeatability and knowledge transfer.
* Provide mentorship to junior engineers and support training plans.
* Lead or contribute to R&D initiatives aligned with DAS’s roadmap.
* Maintain communication with suppliers and vendors regarding tool specs and performance.
Qualifications & Skills
* Degree in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or related.
* Experience in micro/nanofabrication ; compound semiconductors and/or photonic devices preferred.
* Strong hands-on expertise in at least one core area: lithography, etch, deposition, metalization, or MOCVD.
* Solid understanding of cleanroom practices and equipment operation .
* Familiarity with characterization tools (e.g., SEM, profilometry, AFM, reflectometry, particle monitoring).
* Ability to work independently and manage processes end-to-end.
* Experience in statistical process control (SPC), yield analysis, and root cause methodologies.
* Excellent communication skills in English (Spanish is a plus).
Desirable
* Knowledge of GaN HEMT processes or LNOI photonic integration .
* Experience with process transfer, scaling, or industrialization .
* Familiarity with hybrid integration (e.g., III-V on LNOI via µTP).
