What is my mission?
As Head of Fuel Sustainability & Compliance, your mission is to lead the development and execution of XFuel's strategy around fuel-related sustainability, regulatory compliance, and lifecycle impact.
You will ensure our fuel products meet and exceed EU and international regulations, certification schemes, and carbon performance standards. Your work will directly influence product development, commercialization strategy, and our positioning as a pioneer in low-carbon fuels.
This is a strategic and hands-on role that combines deep technical understanding of fuel regulation and sustainability frameworks with strong leadership and cross-functional coordination.
Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Policy Tracking:
Monitor and interpret European and international fuel regulations (e.g. RED II/III, Fit for 55, ReFuelEU Aviation, FuelEU Maritime), ensuring XFuel products remain compliant across all applicable markets.
Certification & Lifecycle Analysis:
Lead fuel certification and sustainability auditing processes (e.g. ISCC, RSB), including documentation, third-party verification, and internal system design.
GHG Calculations &
LCA:
Oversee calculation of GHG savings and lifecycle analysis (LCA) of XFuel products, ensuring accurate emissions reporting in alignment with EU methodologies and sustainability criteria.
Sustainability Strategy:
Develop and implement fuel-specific sustainability strategy aligned with the company's mission, ESG commitments, and commercial objectives.
Cross-functional Integration: Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Legal, R&D;, and Business Development to embed sustainability and compliance into every stage of the fuel development and commercialization process.
Regulatory Engagement & Thought Leadership:
Represent XFuel in discussions with regulators, industry bodies, and working groups. Anticipate and interpret new legislation to support strategic decision-making.
Reporting & Impact Metrics:
Lead sustainability reporting related to fuels, including emissions reductions, compliance documentation, and customer disclosures.
Stakeholder Support:
Provide ESG and compliance input for fundraising, grant reporting, investor communications, and customer due diligence processes.
We're looking for someone who:
Strong knowledge of EU fuel sustainability regulation and renewable energy policy (RED II/III, Fit for 55, etc.)
7–10 years experience in regulatory affairs, sustainability, or compliance in the fuel, energy, chemical, or transport sectors.
Demonstrated experience with certification frameworks (e.g. ISCC, RSB) and GHG methodologies.
Experience leading or contributing to LCA studies and GHG reporting.
Excellent communication skills and ability to translate regulatory language into operational strategy.
Fluency in English; Spanish is a plus.
Based in or willing to relocate to Mallorca (relocation support available).
