HR Mobility & Onboarding Officer – Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS)
Overview
Barcelona Supercomputing Center is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. BSC hosts MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is a founding member of PRACE and the host entity for EuroHPC JU. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision with R&D; in computational science, life, earth and engineering sciences under one roof, with over 1,000 staff from 60 countries.
Key Duties
- Mobility Management & Personnel Administration – Oversee work permits, renewals, and act as primary point of contact for mobility matters.
- Data Analysis – Analyze mobility data, identify trends and implement process improvements.
- Reporting – Prepare monthly mobility reports and metrics.
- Contract Preparation – Oversee employment contract preparation and explain BSC policies to new hires.
- Onboarding – Design and implement onboarding processes, provide relocation essentials, conduct BSC introduction sessions, maintain onboarding materials.
- Social Activities – Organize and support social activities for newcomers and existing staff in collaboration with HR.
- KPIs – Monitor and report on onboarding key performance indicators.
- Team Supervision – Supervise and mentor a junior HR Officer, delegate responsibilities, ensure task alignment and professional development.
- HRS4R Initiative – Maintain HRS4R accreditation and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with best practices.
- Private Activities – Manage review and approval of requests for compatibility with private activities, ensuring compliance with internal policies and legal regulations.
Requirements
- Education – University degree in Social Sciences, Labour Relations, Psychology or similar.
- Professional Experience – Minimum of 3 years in HR with focus on mobility and onboarding, preferably in an international environment;
proven experiencemanaging work permits and relocation;
prior team supervision or mentoring;
excellent communicationin Spanish, Catalan and English.
- Additional Knowledge – Familiarity with maintaining or supporting institutional accreditations such as HRS4R;
other languages and solid Microsoft Office skills are a plus.

ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑volume, deadline‑driven environment;
commitment to exceptional service;
multicultural competence and ability to navigate diverse cultural contexts.
Conditions
- Location – BSC Management Department, San Just Desvern, Catalonia.
- Contract – Full‑time (37.5 h/week), adaptable working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support for relocation procedures.
- Duration – Sick‑leave substitution.
- Holidays – 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per collective agreement.
- Salary – Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, according to the cost of living in Barcelona.
- Starting date – ASAP.

Recruitment will follow a competitive examination system (Concurso‑Oposición) with two phases:
1. Curriculum Analysis – evaluation of experience and qualifications (40 % of points).
2. Interview phase – technical and administrative interviews, competency assessment (60 % of points). Candidates must obtain at least 30 % of total points (60 %) to be eligible.
