About usWe are a healthtech company specialized in the development of advanced robotic surgery systems for high-precision minimally invasive procedures. Founded in 2012 as a spin-off from UPC and IBEC, our mission is to make robot-assisted surgery more accessible, precise, and efficient worldwide. We are building next-generation surgical robotic platforms, and instrumentation is a critical part of our core technology.Your missionAs a Senior Systems / Test Engineer you will be responsible for defining, building and validating custom test benches used to characterize robotic surgical instruments. This is a key role inside our R&D team, directly connected to product performance, safety and regulatory evidence.You will translate instrument requirements into test systems that allow us to understand, measure and validate real-world behaviour of robotic surgical tools, ensuring reliability in clinical use scenarios.Your main responsibilitiesTranslate robotic surgical instrument requirements into test bench specificationsDefine and lead validation protocols for instrumentation (force, hysteresis, fatigue, offset, grasping performance, stiffness, distal vs proximal behaviour)Design, build and validate custom test rigs for robotic surgery systems (mechanical + instrumentation + calibration)Execute and analyse performance and reliability testing.Generate technical documentation for regulatory submissions in medical devicesEnsure traceability, calibration control and continuous improvement of testing systems used in surgical roboticsAct as a key link between design engineers and validation teams in iterative development cyclesSupport risk analysis with experimental data from testingWhat are we looking for?Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Biomedical Engineering or similar5+ years of experience in V&V / testing, ideally in robotic systemsStrong hands-on experience with test benches or rigs (preferably in robotics or surgical systems)Solid understanding of mechanical testing, materials behaviour, fatigue and reliabilityKnowledge of ISO 13485 / ISO 14971 and validation processes (IQ/OQ/PQ)Experience with data analysis (Excel;
Python or MATLAB is a plus)English professional level (technical documentation)Spanish native or fluentWe are looking for someone who is…Previous experience in robotic surgery, medical robotics or high-precision robotic systemsHands-on, pragmatic and problem-solver by natureComfortable working in a fast-pacedAble to connect mechanical design with experimental validation in complex robotic systemsAnalytical, structured and detail-orientedNice to haveSensorised / hybrid robotic test benchesMATLAB or Python for data analysisExposure to MDR / CE marking in medical devicesIterative design–test–learn development environmentsWhat do we offer?Full-time permanent contractCompetitive salary aligned with experienceFlexible working hoursHighly innovative and regulated environment with real impact on patients’ livesStrong engineering culture inside a surgical robotics company developing real medical robotic systems
