Position Information
This position is based at our EIB office in Madrid, Spain and requires regular office presence. The EIB offers the opportunity to work in a truly international and multicultural environment. The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General (SG) - Shareholder Relations and Institutional Matters Department (SR&IM) - Institutional Representation Division (IRD) - External Offices Unit (EO) in Madrid, Spain.
Traineeship Details
Duration : 5 months (fixed start date: September/October 2025)
Please note that applications are only considered from nationals of EU Member States or countries with candidate status (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine). Applications from Erasmus+ students cannot be considered. Limit applications to a maximum of three traineeships, considering only the first three submissions.
Objective of the Traineeship
The goal is to support the EIB Madrid Office in engaging with the President's Office, Country Coordinator, and Spanish public officials, and to enhance the visibility of the EIB. In 2025, the office will support Spain's Recovery and Transformation Plan, aiming to improve EIB's pipeline of operations under InvestEU and Own Resources, including EIF, Advisory, and Financial Instruments. The trainee will assist in representing the office and organizing activities related to the implementation of RRF and InvestEU, reporting to the Head of Office and collaborating with the Office Administrator and Operations Assistant. Exposure to origination activities related to EIB mandates and account management is also expected.
Responsibilities
* Support organization of events and meetings (logistics, invitations)
* Liaise with venues and public organizations
* Create VIP invitation lists and contact EU institutions
* Collect data, prepare databases, and analyze information
* Assist in preparing presentations, draft notes, and screening interlocutors
* Support social media development to improve communication of the Office and EIB projects in Spain
Academic Qualifications and Skills
Final year students or university graduates in Communication and/or Business Administration. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint). Good communication, proactive attitude, and drafting skills. Working knowledge of social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn. Excellent English skills; knowledge of French and Spanish is an advantage.
