Role Description
Due to continued expansion, Whitewater is seeking a Pre-Commissioning Engineer (Electrical) to support the delivery of water treatment systems across European projects.
This role is focused on electrical pre-commissioning activities, ensuring that electrical systems, control panels, instrumentation, and field devices are correctly installed, tested, and ready prior to energisation and live commissioning.
The Pre-Commissioning Engineer will work closely with QA/QC, OSM, automation, and commissioning teams to identify and resolve issues early, helping ensure a smooth transition into commissioning and system start-up. Main Duties and Responsibilities
Electrical Pre-Commissioning & Inspections to include:
Carry out detailed electrical pre-commissioning inspections of:
MCCs, control panels, PLC panels, VSDs, soft starters
Pumps, motors, actuated valves, instrumentation, and field devices
Verify installations against P&IDs, electrical schematics, I/O lists, and approved drawings
Confirm correct installation of power, control, and instrument cabling
Verify earthing, bonding, labelling, and panel workmanship
Identify installation or wiring issues and support timely resolution
Provide clear feedback on electrical readiness to support commissioning planning Testing & Verification to include:
Perform or witness electrical testing to include:
Insulation resistance testing
Continuity and earth checks
Phase rotation and supply verification
Support loop checks and point-to-point testing in coordination with automation teams
Confirm systems are safe and suitable for energisation Interface & Coordination
Work closely with:
QA/QC team
Automation / PLC engineers
Commissioning engineers and project teams
OSM team Documentation
Complete and maintain pre-commissioning checklists and inspection records (ITP's)
Ensure testing and inspection results are clearly recorded and traceable
Support the preparation of handover information required for commissioning activities Required Qualifications and Experience
Degree or trade xbhjioe qualification in Electrical Engineering, or an electrical trade-qualified background with experience in industrial systems and automation, or equivalent
3+ years' experience in electrical installation, pre-commissioning, or site-based engineering roles
Strong understanding of:
MCCs, control panels, VSDs, motors, and instrumentation
Ability to read and work from:
P&IDs
Electrical schematics
I/O lists and construction drawings
Strong attention to detail and safety-focused approach
Permit to work in the EU Desirable
Experience working on water treatment plants or within water treatment environments
Exposure to industrial process systems, utilities, or data centre infrastructure
Previous involvement in commissioning or system start-up activities Benefits
