No /p h3Offer Description /h3 pWe have an exciting opportunity to join the Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network, SUPER, as a PhD Fellow. The successful candidate will be registered as a fee‑free PhD student at Blanquerna – Universitat Ramon Llull and enrolled in the SUPER Doctoral Network, with secondment opportunities in industry and other European academic institutions.br/SUPER (Sustainable Sports and Physical Activity for Equity and Resilience) is offering 17 pioneering fellowship opportunities at the intersection of sustainability and sports science.br/Sports and physical activity are an essential part of the fabric of our lives, but also impact the planet through transport, infrastructure, equipment and energy use in ways that are widely unknown. At the same time, sports and physical activity will be affected by the impacts of climate change and must adapt to continue promoting health and resilience.br/SUPER will reshape physical activity and sports practices, equipment and infrastructure to ensure equitable access for all, regardless of where they live, their socioeconomic status or background. It will reduce sport’s environmental impact through sustainable practices and mitigate the negative health effects of climate change by fostering resilience and wellbeing, especially among vulnerable populations.br/Through SUPER, sports and physical activity will become a platform to raise awareness of planetary health, helping to inspire broader engagement in sustainability. SUPER will confront the need for equity and climate justice head‑on, creating a transformative and mission‑driven science to guide the future of sport for future generations.br/A new wave of scientists and leaders will emerge, equipped with transdisciplinary expertise that bridges physical activity, sports, public and planetary health, circular economy and sustainability. /p pThe Doctoral Candidate in the project “bGood Governance for Sustainable Physical Activity and Sport Practice through Intergenerational Experiences and Solutions within the Built Environment: Engaging School Settings and Community Centres /b” will contribute to advancing intergenerational active mobility by fostering meaningful connections between children and older adults. The project focuses on the co‑creation of sustainable urban spaces that promote safe, inclusive, and active mobility across generations. The Doctoral Candidate will play a central role within the network and will:br/ /p ul libSynthesize evidence /b. Conduct a systematic review of intergenerational active mobility interventions through the lens of planetary health and sustainability. /li libAssess enabling environments /b. Identify and map features of the built and social environment that facilitate or hinder active mobility among children and older adults using citizen‑science approaches. /li libCo‑design solutions /b. Collaborate with children, grandparents, families, and community stakeholders to develop strategies that encourage active travel and reduce sedentary behaviour. /li libEmbed sustainability /b. Evaluate and prioritize proposed strategies based on environmental and resource‑efficiency criteria, including materials, infrastructure, and long‑term feasibility. /li libStrengthen governance /b. Develop evidence‑based guidelines to support equitable, inclusive, and sustainable intergenerational physical activity within urban policy and planning. /li libTest real‑world impact /b. Implement and evaluate a pilot intervention to examine feasibility, acceptability, and behavioural outcomes of the co‑created solutions. /li /ul pThe Doctoral Candidate will be expected to: /p ul liReport on findings through scientific articles and a PhD dissertation; /li liPresent findings at (inter)national meetings and conferences; /li liContribute to the wider work of the SUPER project; /li liParticipate in educational activities of the department and within the consortium. /li /ul h3Where to apply /h3 pE‑mail /p h3Requirements /h3 h3Skills/Qualifications /h3 pWe are looking for an ambitious PhD candidate with the following requirements: /p ul liMaster’s degree in public health, health science, urban planning, environmental science, sports science, or related discipline; /li liStrong interest in sustainable physical activity, urban design, and intergenerational health; /li liExperience in participatory or citizen science methods; /li liExcellent analytical and data management skills; /li liStrong communication skills in Spanish, both written and oral; /li liStrong communication skills in English, both written and oral; /li liAbility to work collaboratively across disciplines and with external partners. /li /ul h3Specific Requirements /h3 pTo be eligible, applicants need to fulfil the MSCA basic requirements: /p ul liAll researchers recruited in a Doctoral Network must be doctoral candidates, i.e. not already in possession of a doctoral degree at the date of the recruitment; /li liDoctoral candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the recruiting host organisation for more than 12 months in the three years immediately before the recruitment date. /li liRequired languages: English and Spanish – Excellentbr/ /li /ul h3Nice‑to‑haves /h3 ul liUnderstand Catalan language and ability to communicate. /li liExperience in working with younger and older age groups.Experience in working with vulnerable populations. /li /ul pThe MSCA programme offers competitive and attractive working conditions. The successful candidates will receive a monthly salary in accordance with the MSCA regulations for doctoral candidates:br/ /p ul liLiving allowance: €1,953.09 per month (paid in 15 instalments: 12 monthly payments plus 2 additional annual payments) /li liMobility allowance: €710 per month /li liFamily allowance (if applicable): €660 per month /li liCurriculum Vitae and a one‑page motivation letter indicating your research interest and experience. /li liCopy of the Master’s degree certificate. /li liContact information of two references (recommendation letters are not required at this stage). /li /ul h3Additional comments /h3 pWe are hosting two information sessions on Monday 23rd March 2026 for those interested in applying for a PhD fellow position with SUPER.
