Director of Business Development

Director of Business Development based in Madrid

Role Focus

Lead the growth of the UAV business at both national and international levels by identifying new business opportunities, acquiring clients, and managing strategic relationships in key sectors such as defense, maritime security, border control, and surveillance.

Main Responsibilities Business Development and Sales

- Coordination of the Sales team
- Identify new business opportunities and generate qualified leads in the defense and security sectors
- Detect sector‑specific opportunities and tailor the sales pitch to each use case
- Develop the indirect sales channel: identify, negotiate, and onboard international partners
- Effectively communicate Alpha’s value proposition specific to each vertical
- Prepare commercial offers, tender responses, budgets, and technical‑commercial documentation with support from the technical team
- Develop and execute sales plans that include commercial goals, revenue targets, and cost controls
- Organize product presentations and flight demonstrations for potential clients
- Negotiate contracts with national and international clients

Client Management and Follow‑Up

- Establish and maintain strong relationships with new clients
- Follow up on business opportunities and coordinate strategic meetings
- Keep customer and opportunity pipeline data updated in the CRM system
- Respond to inbound inquiries related to product specifications, pricing, timelines, and payment terms

Internal Collaboration with the Marketing Team

- Align sales efforts with marketing strategies and campaigns
- Gather market requirements and define improvements for the product development team
- Attend & generate business leads at international industry events
- Support the development of marketing materials and commercial documentation

Profile requirements Academic Background

Technical background, preferably in Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field

Experience

- Minimum 5–7 years of experience as a Business Development Manager, Sales Executive, or other relevant commercial role in the defense and security sector
- Proven track record in complex sales and achieving commercial targets.
- Experience working with clear monthly or quarterly sales targets and a demonstrated ability to meet them

Technical Knowledge

- Understanding of the UAV market or similar sectors
- User‑level knowledge of UAV systems and their components (control systems, autopilots, sensors, communications, etc.)

Languages

- Highly proficient in both written and spoken Spanish and English
- Other languages are positively valued

Key Skills

- Strong orientation for delivering results and a goal‑driven mindset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven negotiation and deal‑closing capabilities
- Ability to build rapport and foster trust‑based relationships
- Strong organisation, planning and time management skills

Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.

This position requires regular on‑site collaboration at our facilities in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid). Hybrid arrangements are not available at this time.
