We are actively looking for a Telecommunications Engineer or a related professional to contribute to the development of our internal RF design, SDR integration and architecture, as well as support our testing capabilities. In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in all stages of the development cycle for our internal communications systems, spanning the ground, space, and user segments. Responsibilities: Define and dimension new satellite and ground station applications with a focus on SDR technology. Design digital communication systems using SDR platforms and FPGAs. Definition and dimensioning satellite communications, performing Link Budgets with different modulation schemes and FECs. (Optimization of the actual communication protocols implementing various modulation schemes and forward error correction (FEC) techniques). Knowledge and design ground station systems architecture (Antennae group and TX/RX chains). Work closely with engineers from other departments to achieve effective systems integration. Generate project documentation (Reports, Tests Campaigns, Block diagrams, …). Manage the Telecommunications Department tasks, organizing the different projects according to the deadlines. Report task results to the Engineering Head. Profile: Telecommunications Engineer degree or similar. 2 to 5 years of minimum related experience. (Development of related personal projects will be considered as experience). Experience with SDR-based communication system design, including waveform development and signal processing. Experience in modulation techniques (e.g., BPSK, QPSK, 8PSK, QAM, OFDM). Knowledge of FEC techniques (e.g., Convolutional Coding, Turbo Codes, LDPC). Experience with SDR platforms (e.g., USRP, PlutoSDR, LimeSDR) and software frameworks such as GNU Radio, MATLAB Simulink, or VHDL/Verilog for FPGA-based SDR. Perform tradeoffs analyzing different components for transmission and reception chains for ground station systems. Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers. Full professional proficiency in English. Preferably: Educational master level. Demonstrable interest in the space sector. Experience in integrating SDR technology into complex systems, ensuring interoperability and optimized performance. Experience in RF PCB design and simulation tools is a plus. Knowledge of IoT protocols (LoRa, NB-IoT) and satellite communication systems. Experience soldering THT/SMD components. Why FOSSA?
