Offer Description
The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (ICMAT), through the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), is offering up to 10 grants to support the completion of a Master’s Thesis (TFM) in mathematics during the 2026–2027 academic year. The projects will be carried out under the supervision of PhD researchers affiliated with ICMAT. These grants form part of the introductory research funding call “JAE Intro ICU 2026”, approved by Resolution of the Presidency of the Spanish National Research Council, M.P., within the programme “Junta para la Ampliación de Estudios”.
The application period is open from 9 February to 10 March 2026 (both inclusive)
Details:
- The amount of each scholarship will be €10,000, paid in 10 monthly instalments, with no additional funding.
- Each scholarship will have a duration of 10 months and will preferably take place between October 2026 and July 2027.
- The maximum commitment required from beneficiaries will be 20 hours per week.
- Undergraduate degree stream: Applicants must have completed, or be in the process of completing within the application period, a Bachelor’s degree or double Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, and must not hold, nor be legally entitled to obtain, a doctoral degree
- Grade point average of the undergraduate academic record: Applicants must demonstrate an average mark on a 0–10 scale, with two decimal places, of at least 8.5
- Official University Master’s degree: If the undergraduate studies have been completed within the application period, applicants must have been admitted to or enrolled in the following academic year (2026–2027) in an official University Master’s degree in Mathematics
- If the undergraduate degree has not been completed within the application period, the scholarship will be conditional upon submission of proof of admission to an official University Master’s degree in Mathematics in the 2026–2027 academic year
- Applicants must not have previously held funding for a research contract
- Applicants must not have previously been beneficiaries of a JAE Programme grant in any of its modalities
