We are seeking an Accounting and Reporting Specialist to join our UK Commercial Asset Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and oversight of administrative, financial, and tax matters, as well as the accounting of the group companies under management.
Job Description
Main Responsibilities
* Serve as the primary point of contact for a designated client, ensuring high-quality service and timely responses to all client requests.
* Record incoming and outgoing invoices.
* Register bank transactions (payments, receivables, tax settlements, loan repayments, etc.).
* Perform bank reconciliations.
* Prepare and submit applicable tax filings.
* Prepare monthly and quarterly VAT returns and assist with tax-related queries.
* Support the preparation and filing of Annual Accounts and statutory books.
* Manage documentation (both physical and digital archives).
* Accrue project revenues.
* Accrue key expenses (e.g., insurance, land lease, depreciation, O&M).
* Prepare and submit financial reports to clients, including key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
* Conduct intercompany reconciliations.
* Manage daily banking activities, including payments in local and foreign currencies.
* Oversee the purchase order system, match invoices to orders, and allocate costs appropriately.
* Coordinate year-end and half-year audits; maintain digital records of invoices, bank statements, and correspondence.
* Manage payment runs with clients and post invoices.
* Provide data for cash flow management.
* Prepare statutory financial statements.
Key Requirements
* Solid knowledge of accounting, finance, and tax for small and medium-sized enterprises.
* Experience with both purchase and sales ledgers.
* Strong grasp of accounting principles (debits and credits), balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
* Experience with accruals, prepayments, and preparing trial balances.
* 4–5 years of relevant experience in UK.
* Experience in renewable energy assets (mandatory).
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload independently and collaboratively.
* Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
* Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
* Self-motivated and team-oriented.
Location: Remote within the UK, or hybrid if based in Madrid, Spain.
Desired Qualifications
* Experience with D365 and Odoo is a plus
* Comfortable in client-facing roles and able to perform under pressure.
Education
* Degree in Economics, Business Administration, or Economics/Law.
* Ideally part-qualified and working toward ACA/ACCA/CIMA certification.
