At KERIONICS, we develop, manufacture and commercialize key components for high-temperature electrolyzers, focusing on SOEL (Solid Oxide Electrolysis) — the most efficient technology for green hydrogen production.
We are a spin-off of the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ) at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), leveraging over a decade of research in advanced ceramic materials to help decarbonize industries.
KERIONICS' innovative technology offers significantly higher energy efficiency compared to existing solutions, making it an ideal fit for industrial integration. Our expertise is aimed at serving energy-intensive process industries, driving decarbonization where replacing fossil fuels is still a major challenge. Additionally, we help reduce the production costs of oxygen and hydrogen, enhancing the competitiveness of our clients.
Who are we
We're a growing multicultural team of 20+ people, united by the same purpose:
building a cleaner future through technological innovation.
At KERIONICS, we believe technology should work for the planet. We're passionate about cutting emissions in energy-intensive industries where fossil fuel replacement remains tough.
What are we looking for
We're looking for a Quality & Testing Manager to join our team in Valencia — someone ready to
build this area from scratch
, setting up our quality and validation strategy, processes and team.
You'll be the
first person fully dedicated to quality at Kerionics
, laying the foundation for how we ensure the reliability, safety and excellence of our technology as we scale. If you thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced environment, love solving complex problems and want to leave your mark on an area critical to industrial decarbonization, this is your chance.
What will you be doing
As our first Quality & Testing Manager, you'll have the rare opportunity to shape the function entirely. You will:
- Design and implement our quality and validation strategy from the ground up, aligning it with product and industrialization roadmaps.
- Develop our initial validation plans and testing protocols to ensure the highest standards of performance and safety.
- Conduct and lead FMEAs, functional analyses and risk assessments, embedding a robust quality mindset into how we engineer and scale.
- Lay down quality systems and processes that will grow with us, from documentation flows to audit readiness.
- Drive a solution-focused, proactive approach to quality challenges — not just detecting issues, but figuring out how to solve them.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product and operations teams to ensure quality is built into every step.
- Monitor and report on quality KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Be the main point of contact for all quality matters, reporting directly to our CTO.
As we grow, you'll hire, train and lead a team of testers and advanced quality engineers, evolving the department you've built.
How we work
This is a
100% on-site role
at our facilities in
Parque Tecnológico de Paterna (Valencia)
, where you'll enjoy a collaborative environment with cutting-edge technology at your fingertips.
We start early — from 7:30, so you'll have your afternoons free to enjoy your hobbies, sports or quality time with friends and family. We truly believe a balanced life makes us better at what we do.
What do we offer
- €50-55K
gross annual salary.
- 22 working days of vacation per year, plus the Christmas period (December 25 to 31) off.
- The unique chance to create and lead the quality area from the ground up, making decisions that will define how we grow and scale.
- The opportunity to work side by side with passionate people who truly care about building solutions for a greener future.
- A collaborative, multicultural environment where mistakes are part of learning and feedback helps us all improve.
Your work will have a
direct impact on industrial decarbonization
— and you'll help scale the most energy-efficient green hydrogen technology on the market.
How to apply
Please note that when you apply, you will be redirected to an external portal to complete our application form. We'd love to get to know you.
How will the selection process look
- A first chat with our People & Culture team to get to know each other.
- A conversation with the hiring manager (CTO) to dive deeper into your fit for the role and team.
- A meeting with our CEO to dive into your vision, ambitions and how they align with Kerionics' mission and long-term strategy.
- And finally, if everything clicks, we'll make you an offer — usually within three weeks from our first contact.
About our culture…
We make everything possible. It's the spirit that drives our resilience, fuels our innovation, and pushes us to keep overcoming challenges — no matter how tough they get.
We speak up. Radical honesty is how we make ideas stronger and build trust.
We get curious. Whether it's cracking a membrane problem or rethinking how we run a morning meeting, we explore, test and learn — fast.
We've got each other's backs. We share knowledge, celebrate wins big and small, and help when someone's stuck.
We value every background. Diversity isn't just talk — it's how we innovate better.
We own it. We're proactive; we don't wait around. This is our project, and every one of us pushes it forward.
We learn from our mistakes. We're not afraid to try, fail, and try again — that's how we turn bold ideas into real breakthroughs.
We care. About safety, about impact, about the people next to us in the blue polo. Because the future we're building is worth doing right, together.
Requirements
- You live in Valencia (or nearby), or you're available to relocate and start working here within 8 weeks.
- A valid work permit for Spain.
- 10+ years of proven experience in a quality leadership role, ideally in a startup, scale-up, aerospace or automotive environment where high performance and safety standards are non-negotiable.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems, validation processes and safety standards.
- Hands-on expertise with FMEA, root cause analysis and functional testing.
- Fluent in Spanish and English; a third language is a plus.
- Excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills.
But most importantly, you're passionate about sustainability and innovation, and excited by the challenge of building a critical function from scratch that will help decarbonize entire industries.
