The Computer VisionCenter(CVC) is a non-profit researchcenterestablishedin 1995 by the Generalitat de Catalunya and theUniversitatAutònomade Barcelona (UAB). Computer vision is an exciting research area and an omnipresent technology,essentially empoweringmachines with the sense of vision. The CVC is a successful marriage between knowledge and innovation. In addition to ourcutting-edgescientific achievements, we haveestablishedlasting ties with industrial partners and created several spin-off companies.
Context and Mission
We are seeking a junior engineer to join the Vision, Language and Reading group as a research assistant .
The successful candidate is expected toparticipateinthe preparation and management of large-scale training processes of multimodal models, on HPC infrastructure.
Thisposition isinitiallyfor1yearandlinkedtothe" European Large Open Multi-Modal Foundation ModelsForRobust GeneralizationOnArbitrary Data Streams "( ELLIOT ),a European Projectfunded by Horizon Europeand backed by the ELLIS network of excellence. Theprojecttargetsthe development of the next generation ofopenMultimodal Foundation Modelsandfurther adapting them for specific downstream tasks.
This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101214398.
Requirements
Education
Computer science degree (or a student finalizing the studies)
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Previousexperience in deep learning, transformer architectures,
Good programming skills in Pytorch, Tensorflow, or similar frameworks
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Publications in relevant forums
Previousexperience in the document understanding field
Competences
Fluency in spoken and written English
Ability to think creatively, work independently and make decisions.
Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines and pressure
The candidate must be an effective communicator, multitask, and work well on collaborative and interdisciplinary designs.
Other merits
Experience superior to thatrequiredin similar positionswill bevalued.
Valuable experience in Catalan public research entities.
