About Us
The Remobile Group is a leader in the consumer electronics market, operating several successful e-commerce brands across Europe. Our portfolio includes Handyswap.com, a fast-growing platform for new mobile phones and electronics in Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium, and Remobile.eu, our B2C Shopify store for high-quality refurbished iPhones in Germany. We are driven by innovation, quality, and a seamless customer experience.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Shopify Custom Theme Developer to join our dynamic team. This is a critical role where you will take ownership of building and optimizing world-class, custom Shopify themes from the ground up to support our ambitious growth plans.
The Role
As a Senior Shopify Custom Theme Developer, you will be responsible for translating our vision and brand identity into a high-performing, scalable, and visually stunning e-commerce experience. You will not be working with pre-built themes; instead, you will architect, develop, and maintain bespoke Shopify themes that are optimized for conversion, speed, and a flawless user journey.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the end-to-end development of custom Shopify themes using the latest technologies and best practices (Online Store 2.0, Shopify CLI, Liquid, modern JavaScript frameworks).
• Architect and build reusable, high-quality code and libraries for future use, ensuring our storefronts are both scalable and maintainable.
• Collaborate closely with our CEO, UI/UX designers, and marketing teams to translate design mockups and business requirements into fully functional, responsive, and elegant e-commerce solutions.
• Rigorously optimize storefronts for maximum speed, performance, and scalability, paying close attention to Core Web Vitals and mobile-first principles.
• Integrate third-party services and Shopify apps, and develop custom solutions when necessary via Shopify APIs.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging across all major devices and browsers to ensure a seamless user experience.
• Stay current with the latest trends and advancements in the Shopify platform, e-commerce technology, and web development to drive continuous improvement.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship on Shopify best practices within the team.
Qualifications & Experience
• 5+ years of proven experience in Shopify theme development, with a strong portfolio showcasing fully custom, from-scratch theme builds (not just modifications of existing themes).
• Expert-level proficiency in Shopify Liquid, HTML5, CSS3 (Sass/SCSS), and modern JavaScript (ES6+). Experience with frameworks like Vue.js or React is a significant plus.
• Deep understanding of the Shopify Online Store 2.0 architecture, including JSON templates, sections, and app blocks.
• Demonstrable experience using Shopify CLI, Git, and modern front-end development workflows.
• A strong portfolio that includes live examples of high-traffic, conversion-optimized Shopify or Shopify Plus stores you have built.
• Expertise in performance optimization, including image optimization, lazy loading, and minimizing render-blocking resources.
• Experience with Shopify APIs (Storefront, Admin) and integrating custom applications.
• A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating pixel-perfect, user-friendly interfaces.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential.
Why Join Us?
• High-Impact Role: Take full ownership and see your work directly impact the growth and success of major e-commerce brands.
• Innovation-Driven: Work on challenging projects that require custom solutions and creative problem-solving.
• Leadership Opportunity: Be the go-to expert for our Shopify presence and help shape our technical direction.
• Adaptable & Remote: We are a forward-thinking company that values talent and results over location.
If you are a passionate, high-level developer who is excited by the challenge of building exceptional e-commerce experiences from the ground up, we would love to hear from you.
