We are hiring a Database Platform Engineer to join a leading international private‑banking project, contributing to the transformation of its database landscape into a modern cloud-based ecosystem. This is a high-impact role within a global and highly regulated environment.
🌍 The Project
You will be part of a cloud transformation initiative within a private banking environment, focused on modernizing database platforms and enabling application teams to migrate from on-premise systems to Azure.
You will work closely with application, platform, and database teams to drive adoption of Azure database services, introduce automation, and enable self-service capabilities across the organization.
💡 What We’re Looking For
An experienced Database Engineer with strong expertise in Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server, combined with a solid understanding of cloud migration and modern database platforms.
We are looking for someone with a hands-on, DevOps-oriented mindset, able to lead migrations, simplify complex concepts, and collaborate across multiple teams.
✔️ Strong Experience (Mandatory)
* 5+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server
* Proven experience migrating databases from on-premise to cloud (Azure preferred)
* Strong knowledge of database fundamentals (performance, structures, operations)
* Experience with Azure database services (Azure SQL, Oracle on Azure, PostgreSQL)
* Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code for database operations
* Understanding of DevOps practices and self-service platform models
* Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban)
* Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple stakeholders
* Professional level of English
✔️ Nice to Have
* Experience migrating from Oracle / SQL Server to PostgreSQL
* Azure certifications (Database, Cloud, Architecture)
* Experience with database migration and assessment tools
* Background in platform engineering or cloud enablement teams
* Experience in financial services or private banking environments
📋 Your Responsibilities
* Support application teams in adopting Azure database services
* Assess existing databases, defining migration strategies and risk analysis
* Lead database migrations to Azure, including modernization initiatives
* Act as a bridge between application teams, platform teams, and vendors
* Implement automation and self-service capabilities for database operations
* Manage database lifecycle processes (provisioning, access, backup, monitoring, patching)
* Educate and guide teams on cloud database best practices
* Create templates, documentation, and reference architectures for scalable adoption
* Contribute to improving the overall database platform and developer experience
