Responsible for the control of the business unit / area / site in R&D, guaranteeing the correct follow-up and financial support, participating in the decision-making of the area / business.
* Monitoring and improving internal control processes, assuring the consistency and validation of financial information in the area.
* Supervising compliance with internal and external guidelines (e.g., IFRS account guidelines, SCIFF).
* Managing financial activities and participating in planning processes, including Budget, Forecasting, and 5-year forecasts, ensuring compliance with corporate finance guidelines and deadlines.
* Providing financial support (Partnership) to stakeholders, fostering healthy debates with internal and external business partners, and promoting financial rigor in discussions.
* Controlling and reporting on the financial performance of assigned departments/business units, including costs, accruals, analysis, reporting, and forecasting; continuously monitoring R&D costs by cost center, accounts, and projects, understanding main cost drivers (risks & opportunities).
* Monitoring clinical study progress and their impact on costs, ensuring monthly accruals, bookings, and invoice payments.
* Preparing and analyzing monthly area reports and corporate reporting packages, ensuring timely and quality closing processes.
* Participating in and coordinating business cases for external funding and subsidies, ensuring proper documentation for funding justification (e.g., accounting documents, audits).
* Participating in and coordinating business cases for new projects with RDMC and PC, as well as portfolio reviews with Project Management.
University training: Degree in Economics, Business Administration, or similar; additional qualifications like an MBA or postgraduate studies are advantageous.
* Advanced proficiency in SAP, Business Objects (BO), and MS Office.
* Mastery of Excel.
* Proactive, analytical, methodical, organized, with a critical approach.
* Good communication and presentation skills.
* Proficient in English (writing and presentations).
* Preferred: Knowledge of the pharmaceutical sector.
* Familiarity with the issuance and analysis of financial-economic reporting.
