We are seeking an experienced, hands on and dynamic
External Communications Manager for Europe, based in Madrid, our European Headquarters, and reporting to European Communications Director.
In this role, you will be the main owner for external communication at a European level, and responsible for delivering consistent and high-quality messages across Europe by coordinating content creation, managing multi-market campaigns, supporting business units with local-focused communication, and ensuring alignment with the Nippon Gases brand, sustainability priorities, and corporate messaging.
Key Responsibilities
External & Customer Experience Communication
Support the design and development of content tailored to the needs of our different business lines. Translate business-area needs into clear, high-value customer-facing content (product launches, case studies, market narratives, customer success stories).
Lead the creation of high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content (case studies, reports, videos, social media materials, press-related assets).
Develop European-level messaging and storylines to support brand reputation and business growth.
Growth & Digital Performance
Collaborate with the Digital team to improve the visibility, SEO, and performance of customer-oriented digital assets.
Use analytics (web, social media, campaign metrics) to identify growth opportunities and optimise content.
Ensure correct application of brand identity and tone of voice across all digital platforms.
Project & Campaign Management
Coordinate cross-country campaigns with local communication teams.
liaise with external agencies for filming, creative assets, translations, and production needs.
Support business units (Medical, JVs, Industrial, etc.) with communication for key initiatives.
Stakeholder Management
Work closely with regional leaders, business development managers, subject-matter experts, and local Comms teams to identify opportunities, gather inputs, and ensure accuracy.
Maintain trusted relationships with external partners (clients participating in case studies, suppliers, agencies). Full ownership of the budget for projects delivered with external providers, ensuring alignment, accuracy, and cost efficiency.
Brand & Experience Consistency
Ensure proper use of Nippon Gases brand guidelines across all materials.
Contribute to European communication standards and templates.
Safeguard customer experience standards across markets.
Job requirements
Background
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field.
At least 10 years’ experience in Communications, Marketing or similar role.
Proven ability to lead and collaborate with teams made up of diverse cultural and professional profiles, fostering an inclusive and high-performance environment.
Experience in B2B, industrial or technical environments will be valued.
Strong understanding of customer-centric communication.
Experience working with Dynamics or MS 365 as a CRM will be highly valued.
Required Skills
Full professional proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of any other European language is a plus.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
Strong storytelling and editorial skills.
Creative mindset with high visual and editorial standards.
Project management and structured execution.
Strong writing and content production skills. Ability to transform technical information into compelling customer narratives.
Others
Availability to travel abroad 20% of the time (Europe).
