We are actively looking for a Mid-level Port Planner to join our Ports team and can be located in our Rotterdam, Hamburg, Valencia, or Algeciras offices. As part of the Planner Group, the Port Planner will assist in the preparation of terminal layouts delineating operational areas such as the quay, container storage, rail intermodal yard, auxiliary operational facilities, and gate for various type of container terminal operations.They will also assist in performing quantitative static and dynamic capacity analysis of each are of the ports operations.

Duties and responsibilities :

* Performing traffic analysis within the terminal and identifying the bottleneck in the system and recommending a solution
* Quantifying the peak truck and rail traffic generated by the terminal
* Analyzing container handling equipment productivity and other operationally critical KPIS
* Preparing planning reports and presentation
* Understanding key discrete event simulation inputs and outputs
* Developing CAPEX and OPEX models and ROI analysis for different operational scenarios.
* Developing phasing / work sequencing plans that will have the least impact to operations, and preparing development schedule

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or related transportation or logistics fields
* Minimum 5 years of experience in the planning of container terminals
* The required planning experience shall include : Preparation of terminal layout delineating operational areas such as the quay, container storage, rail intermodal yard, auxiliary operational facilities, and gate for various type of container terminal operationsRTGStraddle carrierReach stacker or top-pickFully or semi-automated
* Must have experience in performing quantitative static and dynamic capacity analysis of each operation area such as : BerthingContainer storage areaGateRail intermodal yard
* Experience in performing traffic analysis within the terminal and identifying the bottleneck in the system and recommending a solution including quantifying the peak truck and rail traffic generated by the terminal
* Experience in analyzing container handling equipment productivity and other operationally critical KPI's
* Experience in preparing planning reports and presentation
* Understanding key discrete event simulation inputs and outputs
* Experience in developing CAPEX and OPEX models and ROI analysis for different operational scenarios
* Experience in developing phasing / work sequencing plans that will have the least impact to operations, and preparing development schedule
Preferred Qualifications :
* Registered (Chartered) Professional Engineer
* Experience in developing emission generation and calculations models.
* Understanding other Port commodities such as planning of Bulk or Liquid bulk facilities.
* Experience in preparing discrete event simulation models

Working conditions :
The projects are mainly are in Europe but as a Port Planner, you will support projects in any part of the world if needed. Therefore the willingness to travel outside the home office is required. (~15% of the time). As we do support clients in different time zone online meetings, may take place outside the regular business hours.
Physical requirements :
Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
