Description
At Orchard Fruit, we are looking to incorporate an Agronomist / Agricultural Engineer with a strong passion for fieldwork and the motivation to grow within a technical, dynamic and improvement-driven environment.
The selected candidate will actively participate in the agronomic management of our orchards and in digitalisation and precision agriculture projects, within an integrated, sustainable production model with full end-to-end control.
Agronomic management
- Technical supervision of apple, pear and cherry orchards : vegetative development, plant health status, and water and nutritional requirements.
- Collaboration in planning and monitoring pruning, irrigation, thinning, treatments and soil management.
- Support in the definition and implementation of integrated and sustainable crop management protocols.
Digitalisation and data analysis
- Use of precision agriculture tools : sensors, weather stations, GIS, and field monitoring applications.
- Analysis of agronomic data and preparation of technical reports to support production decisions.
- Implementation and use of internal traceability and quality control systems.
Operational management
- Daily coordination with farm managers and field teams.
- Monitoring of key tasks during the season: harvest, grading, field quality control and agricultural operations.
- Control of task execution and reporting of incidents or deviations.
- Collaboration in the continuous improvement of H&S; (PRL), sustainability and operational efficiency procedures.
Projects and continuous improvement
- Participation in varietal trials and agronomic innovation projects.
- Proposal of improvements in irrigation systems, nutrition strategies or crop management.
- Implementation of Good Agricultural Practices in line with certification standards (GlobalG.A.P., GRASP, etc.).
Mandatory
- Degree in Agricultural Engineering / Agronomy.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in farm management, intensive agriculture or woody crops (including internships, traineeships or junior positions).
- Strong interest in fieldwork and availability to travel between orchards.
- Solid knowledge of irrigation, fertilisation, plant protection and fruit tree physiology.
- Proficiency in digital tools applied to agriculture.
Highly valued
- Previous experience with pome fruit (apple, pear) and stone fruit (cherry).
- Experience with GIS software, agricultural ERPs and digital farm logbooks (REAC).
- Knowledge of precision agriculture technologies and sensor systems.
- Technical level of English.
- Pesticide applicator licence and driving licence (B).
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret agronomic data.
- Proactivity and continuous improvement orientation.
- Ability to work autonomously in the field.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with operational teams.
- High awareness of safety, quality and sustainability.
Role mainly based in the field, with travel between orchards and regular visits to the head office.
- Permanent contract, following an initial period based on performance.
- Full-time position.
