Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Particle Physics, Theoretical Cosmology/Gravitation
Position Open: start Fall ****, duration three years, funded by the ERC Synergy Grant project GravNet.
About IFAE
The Institut de Física d'Altes Energies (IFAE) is a public consortium of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. IFAE operates as a "University Institute" attached to the UAB and its premises are on the UAB campus.
About the Theoretical Physics Group and the GravNet Project
IFAE’s theory group invites applications for one postdoctoral research position in theoretical developments for the search of high‑frequency gravitational waves in cavities.
Principal Responsibilities
- Model and simulate the response of electromagnetic cavities to gravitational waves from different sources.
- Generate realistic sensitivity calculations and analyze various network configurations.
- Develop and optimize theoretical aspects of the proposal to design the best strategy for high‑frequency gravitational wave detection.
Candidate Profile
Research expertise in Theoretical Physics, with experience in searches of BSM physics or gravitational‑wave physics in laboratory setups (especially quantum‑sensing techniques) is particularly welcome.
Evaluation Criteria
1. CV and previous achievements: 20 points
2. Letters of recommendation: 30 points
3. Adequacy to the research direction and publications: 30 points
4. Interview: 20 points
Contract Details
Full‑time contract (40 h/week). Salary proportional to experience and qualifications within the corresponding category range. The selected candidate is expected to join IFAE as soon as possible from September ****.
Application Requirements
Applicants must hold a PhD in Physics or related topics by the start of the contract. Provide a CV, a statement of research interests, a publication list (all in PDF) and at least three recommendation letters.
Equal Opportunity and Diversity
IFAE is an equal‑opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace and to the inclusion of people with disabilities. Applications from women, minorities, and people with disabilities are especially encouraged.
In compliance with article 121 of the Spanish Public Sector Legal Regime Act, staff with a pre‑existing relationship with the Consortium administration will receive priority in the award of the position.
