Optos' core devices produce ultra-widefield, high resolution digital images (opto map) of approximately 82% and 200◦ of the retina, something no other device is capable of doing in any single image. An opto map image provides a bigger picture and more clinical information which facilitates the early detection, management and effective treatment of disorders and diseases evidenced in the retina such as retinal detachments and tears, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Retinal imaging can also indicate evidence of non-eye or systemic diseases such as hypertension and certain cancers.

We are currently looking for a Field Service Engineer based in Madrid to join our European Service team.
What you will do...
Reporting to a Team Leader based in the UK, you will be responsible for providing first class field service support to Optos’ customer base in Spain. Your role will include installing, repairing, performing preventive maintenance and training customers in the use and care of the Optos devices. You will also support marketing and sales shows when required.
Your position will predominantly cover Spain and in particular the Madrid region, but you might also be asked to occasionally perform your duties in other European countries and to travel to the US.
* Plan installation of new customer sites by liaising with Optos customer team.
* Perform install, repair, and preventive maintenance, retrofit Optos instrument products ensuring service excellence.
* Support customers on the operational aspects of the instrument, equipment and software.
* Proactively communicate relevant site information to appropriate Optos teams
* Install and maintain wired and wireless networks.
* Timely completion and submission of all regulatory and company required documentation and reporting.
* Support and contribute to regular Regional Service meetings.
* Provide remote diagnosis/repair support when needed.
* Communicate with first line manager on a frequent basis to validate/modify scheduling.
* Relay field repetitive failures issues to first line manager.
* Ensure that all repair parts are on site when needed and all related CRM transactions are completed thoroughly and in a timely manner.
* Test repaired instruments in all operating modes.
* Represent Optos at technical shows and exhibitions as required.
Who you are...
* Engineering / Electronics or equivalent education gained through work experience.
* Previous field service experience.
* Technical experience in the medical device industry would be a plus but not compulsory.
* Knowledge and practical experience of Basic Wired and Wireless Network Integration + electronics.
* Competent in instrument operation, test, maintenance, alignment, and repair procedures
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong pro-active communicator with the ability to influence others.
* Ability to produce high quality work under pressure and within tight timescales.
* Strong team player with flexible attitude to work priorities.
* Fluent in Spanish and excellent command of English.
* Willingness to travel.
