Based at Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, as the Engineering Manager you will support and assist in overseeing all engineering‑related activities, ensuring services meet the needs of the property, our customers, and colleagues. You will play an active role in daily operations, supporting the Director in leading, mentoring, and educating the engineering team.
Responsibilities

* Team Leadership: hire, train, supervise technicians, electricians, and plumbers; coordinate shifts; delegate work orders; conduct performance reviews.
* CMMS Utilization: use SAP PM, Maximo, or similar systems to track work orders, asset performance, and maintenance history.
* Daily Operational Supervision: distribute and ensure timely completion of work orders; oversee repairs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, laundry, and kitchen systems.
* Energy & Sustainability Management: track consumption and implement initiatives to meet hotel sustainability goals.
* Daily Maintenance Oversight: direct and inspect the daily work of maintenance staff across guest rooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas.
* Emergency Response: lead on critical system failures (power outages, elevator issues, plumbing leaks); promptly address guest repair requests and monitor satisfaction scores.
* Guest Service Excellence: promptly address guest repair requests; monitor satisfaction scores.
* Safety & SOPs: support implementation of fire, life, health, safety, security, and emergency standard operating procedures per brand standards.
* Outsourced Engineering Coordination: identify and coordinate with outsourced companies and services.
* Preventative Maintenance Programs: develop and execute programs according to group guidelines.
* People & Culture Support: assist with recruitment, employee development, labor cost management, community initiatives, evaluation, and recognition.
* IT & T Support: collaborate with the IT & T Director on telecommunications upgrades, contingency system maintenance, and emergency power testing.
* Operations Support: train and demonstrate systems such as key, audiovisual, lighting, and temperature controls.
* Inspections: conduct regular inspections of front and back‑of‑house areas to maintain quality and standards.
* Technical Documentation: ensure all documents, drawings, and manuals are updated when changes occur.
* Records Management: maintain certifications, test reports, inspections, and maintenance records.
* Technical Expertise: be fully familiar with the hotel’s plant and services to provide support and uphold standards.
* Budgeting: assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and cost estimates related to engineering functions.
* Energy Conservation: contribute to conservation efforts and implement energy‑control measures.
* Government Relations: maintain contact with local authorities and government departments (fire service, electrical, mechanical, water supply) for compliance and assistance.
* Promotion of MOHG Guidelines: support the brand’s fire, life, health, safety, and security guidelines across all relevant areas.
Qualifications
Experience and education
*
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy).
* Minimum of 3 years of engineering or facilities management experience, preferably within luxury hospitality.
* Experience in pre‑opening projects and resorts is a plus.
Technical Skills
*
* Good knowledge of major building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and energy management.
* Proficiency in office automation tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and related software.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
* Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
* Attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of quality.
* Problem‑solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing issues.
* Ability to work well within a team and support senior management in engineering operations.
* Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations within a hotel or similar setting.
* Flexibility to support emergency operations and adapt to changing demands in a fast‑paced environment.
