At Voltrac, we are on a mission to strengthen Europe's food security and defence with an autonomous electric tractor to free farmers from drudgery and keep soldiers out of harm's way. The 3.5‐tonne platform is currently being tested at vineyards, olive orchards and citrus groves across Spain—check out our website to see it in action. We are about to scale manufacturing to 100 units per year and are looking to match the sales accordingly.
Who we areVoltrac was founded in 2024 by Francisco Infante Aguirre and Thomas Hubregtsen. Francisco previously built hydrogen‐powered supersonic planes at Destinus and heavy‐lifting eVTOLs at Volocopter, and comes from a family that sells tractor implements in over 25 countries. Thomas accelerated machine learning at Google X, IBM and BMW, started San Francisco‐based Extropic, and worked on thermodynamic computers. Together they aim to shake up the market and compete directly with incumbents and startups alike. The company is backed by investors such as Extantia, Foodlabs, Antler, Push, and Prototype, who committed a total of 9 M USD in funding. Our facility in Valencia covers 1 200 m2, including 300 m2 of natural‐light office and 900 m2 of workshop space. The team is young, diverse, and enthusiastic about shaping Europe's agriculture and defence with machines that do real work.
Tasks
Own the autonomy stack end‐to‐end, from raw data streaming to your API, to production deployments.
Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines—including cleaning, organizing, and labeling.
Select, train, and iterate on machine learning models for autonomy.
Design and run testing campaigns, both in virtual environments and out in vineyards, olive orchards, and citrus groves.
Define and implement verification and safety criteria.
Own deployment: ship new models, monitor them, and communicate changes or requirements to end users.
If you have deep experience in only part of this stack, we are open to shaping the role or splitting it across autonomy engineering, data engineering, and/or cloud. We strongly prefer "skunkworks‐style" teams where everyone has high ownership and broad autonomy.
Requirements
Strong, hands‐on coding ability and solid software engineering fundamentals.
Awareness of the state of the art in autonomous systems and practical knowledge of what is ready for the field.
A track record of deploying models that work outside of a notebook or slide deck.
Willingness to go on site and test on real machines with real constraints.
Ability to work in a self‐directed way on your own topics while actively collaborating with engineers, technicians, operators, and sales.
Fluent in English; conversational Spanish is a plus.
Ability to responsibly use AI.
