Position: Assistant Cable Jointer
Reports to: T&D Foreman- Cable Jointing & Substations

Job Summary:
The Assistant Cable Jointer supports the construction, installation, repair, and maintenance of high- and low-voltage underground cable systems within the Transmission & Distribution Department. This role contributes to the safe and reliable operation of BVIEC's electrical infrastructure by assisting senior technical staff with cable jointing, termination, and equipment servicing. The position also involves field work, travel to sister islands, and availability for emergency or after-hours response.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist with constructing and maintaining high-voltage and low-voltage cable joints and terminations.
2. Support installation and repair of various underground and substation electrical components.
3. Assist with isolating and energizing spur lines.
4. Participate in routine inspection and maintenance of substation equipment.
5. Assist with transporting, planting, burying, compacting, and delivering underground cables.
6. Travel to sister islands to perform assigned duties.
7. Maintain professional working relationships with all BVIEC employees.
8. Be available/on-call to work outside normal working hours as required.
Qualifications:
1. Education
o High School Diploma (minimum requirement).
o Additional technical qualifications are an asset.
2. Experience
o At least two (2) years of relevant work experience.
3. Skills
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
o Computer literacy.
o Ability to learn and follow electrical safety procedures.
o Physical stamina for field-based operations.

Work Environment:
1. Primarily field-based with regular outdoor activity.

Compensation:
1. Entry-level
2. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
