Key Responsibilities

* Classify – multi-layer classification depending on the type of data, stage in the data processing workflow, etc.
* Label (tag) – Make data assets discoverable and searchable
* Curate – describe how to make use of the data. Enable self-serve analytics.
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data is used effectively and efficiently.

The data steward will be in charge of introducing a Data First strategy, promoting the use of data throughout the company, enabling smart solutions or a self-serve platform. The data steward will drive the change required to democratize access, knowledge and understanding of data.


Data Steward role details

The Data Steward will be responsible for maintaining quality, usability and availability of master and metadata on a daily basis, with a strong focus on data security in line with the company's security principles.

* Maintain data profiles and business metadata, tag and label data elements in business semantics, create data vocabularies across the organization, so that data is searchable and makes sense to data users.
* Define data categories and their associated rules, labeling each category with unique keywords so rules can be applied.
* Understand technical metadata, ensure changes comply with organizational data governance rules.
* Own and lead data retention and data resilience services, and collaborate with technology to develop necessary tooling.
* Support the wider team in 3rd party assessments, internal and external audits.
* Demonstrate a passion for learning new data-focused technologies, including data science, cloud storage, AI and other data-focused approaches to manage large data volumes.


Skills and Qualifications

* Strong knowledge of database management systems and data governance frameworks
* Knowledge of Data Catalog or Metadata management tools, and self-service platform concepts
* Knowledge of Master Data Management and Reference Data Management
* Good understanding of data classification and data profiling, with real-world DataOps skills
* Experience with data quality control, data security and data resilience from an operational perspective
* Understanding of relational, NoSQL, Data Warehouse and Big Data concepts
* Experience in SQL querying
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences
* Ability to interpret contractual requirements into processes and enabling technology
* Understanding of cybersecurity concepts, data privacy and data protection laws


Experience Requirements

* Bachelor's or Master\'s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems management, statistics / data science, or a related field
* Experience in working in a cross-functional environment, e.g., with business, architects, engineering and data science teams
* Experience in the media domain (digital advertising, social media, television) is a plus
