An informal family of 6, consisting of 2 internationally orientated adults (45 and 46 years old, Dutch/German) and their 4 children (7-12 years), are requiring a Live-in Domestic Couple/Property Management Couple, to join them at their beautiful residence in Barcelona, Spain.
The family live in Sarria, Barcelona, surrounded by tranquillity/natural beauty in the Natural Park overlooking the whole city towards the Mediterranean Sea, whilst being very well connected to the city by the metro network (5 min walk). Pharmacy, supermarket, grocery and bakery are within 10 minutes’ walk from the residence.
The main residence is a classic mansion dating from around the 1900s with a modern interior that consists of three floors of about 150m2 each. All rooms have easy cleaning, stone floors. In the main house there are 5 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms.
The Domestic Couple will distribute their working time between the main house of the family in Barcelona and the weekend-house which is located on the Costa Brava. The percentage of the divided time depends on the season and whatever tasks are at hand.
The weekend-home on the Costa Brava is being rented as a high-end holiday home in the summer months during which the Domestic Couple is asked to manage this property in cooperation with the local gardener and cleaning lady.
**Duties required - not exhaustive**:
**Housekeeper**
- Running a household, including cleaning, mopping, dusting, tidying, laundry/ironing, bedlinen, making beds
- Wardrobe maintenance
- Cooking and eating balanced meals and proper quality food is an important element within the family. The cook does not have to have restaurant chef qualities, but it is of paramount importance that he or she enjoys cooking as a second nature
- Stocking and ensuring kitchen and household items are always available
- Designing a monthly meal plan in consultation with the lady of the house, provide a shopping list, prepare dinners and overview the preparation of the other meals
Depending on the division between the couple team, the Handyperson could be responsible for (part of) the daily cooking.
The couple will be working alongside existing staff, compromising of a full time gardener and a full time domestic worker.
**Handyperson**
- Conducting DIY/Handyman works and working with construction tools and equipment
- Maintaining a beautiful garden throughout the seasons of the year, including knowledge of the irrigation system
- Knowledge and experience working with garden tools and machinery
- Cutting and pruning, maintaining a vegetable and fruit garden
- Taking care of the animals, including 4 chickens
- Maintaining the on-property roads, walk-paths, parking areas, terraces, windows and facades of the dwellings
- Responsibility for the pool maintenance as well as the chill-out and gym house
- Do weekly grocery shopping in a timely manner
- Valeting of the vehicles
- Knowledge of I.T/security systems would be desirable
- Responsible for the proper coordination of service providers and other persons entering the property, as well as receiving postal mail, and delivery packages
- Experience in working for families as a live-in team is required, but most important is a happy attitude towards life, with a proactive and intuitive mindset
- The couple must be able to work steady and independently, especially after a start-up period
- The couple preferably speaks both English and Spanish, or in case of English have the desire to learn Spanish fast
- Due to the residence being set in the hills of Barcelona and there is a certain height difference between the main house and the apartment, the couple are required to be physically fit to walk stairs and engage in an active lifestyle
- A driver’s licence is required and must also feel comfortable with driving a large SUV
- Non or very light smokers at home
- One pet allowed, to be held close to their own apartment
- Be comfortable working and caring for animals/pets
**Accommodation**:
The apartment for the couple (+/-100m2) is newly renovated, it is private and independent, and is located about 40 meters from the main house. It has a new open kitchen with oven and dishwasher, a bathroom with rain shower, 2 bedrooms and a light and spacious living room, TV, and terrace/small private garden. The view from the apartment overlooks the city towards the Mediterranean Sea. A parking space for a car can be arranged on the property, and/or a small car can be provided for the couple.
**Working week**: 40-44 hours per week. Structural hours to be agreed with the employer. Flexibility is appreciated and overtime will be remunerated.
The Spanish branch holiday schedule will be followed.
The couple may sporadically be required to join the family at their weekend home in the Costa Brava. The couple will have their own quarters.
