Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure and supports all data centers, ensuring continuous customer access to innovation while maintaining safety, security, and low cost at massive scale.
Key Responsibilities
* Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
* Directly support operational issues with ad‑hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews (including critical equipment), and event support.
* Own conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, increase efficiency, and sustainability.
* Interface with internal data center operations team, design engineering team, server hardware team, and environmental health and safety team to promote consistent and reliable standards.
* Develop innovative solutions for AWS data centers.
* Work on concurrent projects, sometimes across multiple geographical regions.
* Initiate and lead engineering audits with on‑site visits; produce reports outlining risks and recommended mitigations.
* Act as resident engineer during new construction projects; support construction, commissioning, and turnover.

A Day in the Life
Each day you will interact with teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers, prioritizing activities that support capacity availability and safety while focusing on the most impactful actions. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
* Experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission‑critical facilities, especially data centers.
Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
* Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems.
* Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, deployment, or mass production.
* Experience using web‑based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.
* Bachelor's degree in a discipline requiring problem solving (Engineering, Physics, Finance, Business, or equivalent professional experience).
* Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities; experience in Big Data architecture and programming/scripting (Batch, VB, PowerShell, Java, C#, Chef, Perl, Ruby, PHP) is a plus.
* Experience with software and editing tools (including HTML, Excel, SQL).
