- The Life Sciences Department at the BSC integrates the independent research of senior scientists that work on various aspects of computational biology, ranging from bioinformatics for genomics to computational biochemistry and text mining. Within the Department, the NLP for Biomedical Information Analysis unit is aims to promote the development of natural language processing and machine translation resources for Spanish and other co-official languages in biomedicine.
**Key Duties**
- Provide clinical expertise to guide the development of the NLP model for pediatric urgent care triage
- Review and define common symptoms, signs, and consultation reasons in pediatric urgent care
- Establish priority criteria associated with consultation reasons and patient characteristics
- Validate and refine the database of symptoms, signs, and associated questions
- Define action criteria based on priority and appropriate healthcare setting
- Establish coordination levels between hospital and primary care services
- Assess the reliability and accuracy of the model's prioritisation and care setting recommendations
- Review and update clinical content as needed to ensure model accuracy and relevance
- Collaborate with the technical team to integrate clinical knowledge into the NLP model
- Participate in testing and validation of the model's performance
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines
- Adapt to new functions that may arise due to technical, legal, or organisational changes in the project
**Requirements**:
- Education
- Medical degree (MS or equivalent)
- Specialization in Pediatrics (completed residency programme)
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Extensive experience in pediatric urgent care
- In-depth knowledge of pediatric triage systems, particularly the Model Andorrà de Triatge (MAT)
- Familiarity with common pediatric urgent care conditions and their management
- Understanding of healthcare resource allocation and patient flow in urgent care settings
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Experience in clinical research or quality improvement projects
- Familiarity with SNOMED CT codes
- Knowledge of Catalan both spoken and written
- Knowledge of English both spoken and written

**Conditions**
- The position will be located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department
- We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, adaptable working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
- Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
- Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
