Responsibilities
- To keep abreast of medical and scientific knowledge.
- Continuous update on products, patient treatment trends, clinical activities and studies conducted within the therapeutic area in their region.
- Development and maintenance of a contact network with leading specialists.
- Understand their needs, key value drivers, practical treatment patterns and scientific activities within therapeutic area.
- Communicate value of company products, including clinical questionnaire discussions.
- Through scientific interactions, communicate medical benefits of products and contribute to foster innovative approaches.
- Represent the company within professional associations in the therapeutic area in cooperation with Medical Affairs/ Medical Education and other positions in the Medical Affairs Department.
- Proactive and reactive communication of medical scientific data according to defined criteria.
- Proactive Scientific Communication to leading specialists must be consistent with the last approved Summary of Product Characteristics regarding the safe and effective use of approved products in approved indications.
- Ensure communications are highly scientific, accurate, fair and objective, based on up-to-date evidence, and free from marketing claims or brand name.
- Interact proactively with non-leading specialists in defined circumstances as per the MSL Country Activity Plan.
- Describe R&D; programs and discuss regulatory developments with no promotional intent as part of Scientific Communication.
- Reactive communication of medical scientific data can be provided upon request within the approved label or off-label, with documentation of all off-label information requests.
- Organize and participate in Medical Education activities at local and regional level, including identifying speakers and building education programs.
- Collaborate with Medical Education manager in national activities; provide scientific material under request; coordinate with speakers on documents/slides for future presentations.
- Organize and participate in Advisory Boards in cooperation with Medical Affairs/Medical Education.
- Engage in market access discussions and present scientific data to payors when appropriate.
- Pre-approval activities and training support for Sales Representatives, acting as a scientific resource with coordination from Medical Affairs/Medical Education.
- Local implementation of Medical Affairs Plan: support studies, recruit investigators, participate in investigator meetings, and provide input to business decisions.
- Observe regulatory requirements and participate in safety and pharmacovigilance processes; ensure compliance with SAFE Fleet program and GCO collaboration when needed.
- Report suspected adverse reactions within 24 hours to Pharmacovigilance.
- For employees involved in Research Related Activities: ensure safety reporting and comply with Fair Market Value, Transfer of Value and Promotional Materials rules; maintain inspection readiness and up-to-date job descriptions.
Qualifications
- Scientific degree: Medical Doctor, Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences university degree, or related qualification (e.g., psychology).
- Deep knowledge of the therapeutic area, strong research skills and ability to interpret medical data.
- Proven ability to engage leading specialists and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with scientific acumen and strong communication skills.
- Customer-focused with awareness of business results; adaptable and able to coordinate in a changing environment.
- Adherence to Johnson & Johnson Credo values and International Health Care Business Integrity Guide.
