OpportunityAPM TerminalsManage the operations/marine execution team on a daily basis. This role supervise all container stevedoring and yard activities with due regard to high productivity, safety and quality while seeking operational excellence through Lean methodology with efficient utilization of resources.Ensure that all personnel within the shift work efficiently meet Terminal goals, including the external suppliers and serve as primary informational point of contact for all members of the organization during vessel operations.**Tasks and Responsibilities**:- Ensure compliance with occupational risk and prevention policies, quality standards, safety regulations (ISS), and environmental guidelines by implementing safe work practices and fostering a secure work environment.- Actively contribute to a strong safety culture within APMT operations.- Lead, motivate, and manage the operational team by structuring tasks, setting priorities, and ensuring high productivity through efficient utilization of labor and equipment, focusing on:- Crane productivity- Vessel activity- Schedule Reliability- Inventory/Capacity- Documentation- Safety requirements- Act as a deputy for the Operations Manager when required.- Oversee and coordinate terminal planning and execution to ensure vessels meet berthing and sailing schedules, taking proactive measures to address potential issues (consulting the Planning Manager on significant changes).- Maintain a strong on-ground presence by conducting continuous quay-side and yard activity inspections throughout shifts and preparing operational reports for management.- Support staff development by monitoring performance, providing feedback, and implementing improvement plans to maximize efficiency.- Work closely with the Customer Services Manager to evaluate and optimize operational procedures and systems.- Contribute to the enhancement of processes, methodologies, and performance metrics within the terminal’s operations.- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments, external stakeholders, and vendors by providing guidance, support, and strategic counsel on terminal-related initiatives.- Conduct regular process control checks and drive performance improvement initiatives.- Generate and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including weekly, monthly, and year-to-date terminal equipment utilization metrics.- Provide daily briefings to the Operations Manager, advising on current and upcoming operations, as well as analyzing past performance.- Conduct periodic performance reviews with direct reports to assess progress and identify areas for development.**CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE**:- Requires a university degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related marine discipline. Alternatively, marine-related qualifications up to Master 1st Class or a minimum of two years of relevant experience in terminal operations.- Minimum of 3 years in a management role within a container terminal environment.- Strong knowledge of container terminal operations, including vessel planning and execution.- Expertise in vessel operations, from planning to execution.- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.- Proven leadership abilities with the capability to foster teamwork and collaboration to achieve objectives.- Proficiency in terminal planning and control systems, with advanced computer skills, including Power BI.- Ability to meet operational goals while developing and mentoring teams.- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.- Hands-on experience with data analysis, process optimization, and visualization tools (e.G., Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy).- Familiarity with automation tools such as Power Automate or equivalent solutionsAdditional Valuable Knowledge and Skills:- Lean tools and methodologyLanguages:- Fluency in Spanish and English- Additional languages will be considered a plusMaersk is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we embrace different styles of thinking.
