Overview
BOLD develops advanced battery systems for motorsport, defence and high‐performance mobility. As Director of Technology you will lead the engineering division responsible for delivering customer programmes on time, at scale, and to the highest technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct leadership to the mechanical, electrical and systems engineering teams, ensuring they work cohesively on both customer and internal products.
Own the performance of the engineering organisation, guiding and developing team members to achieve the best outcomes for the company and its clients.
Promote a culture of ownership, excellence and customer obsession throughout the team, collaborating with managers to extend this culture company‐wide.
Drive integration of R&D efforts for internal product development, aligning with BOLD's mission to pioneer technologies that enhance energy efficiency, safety and performance.
Collaborate with the executive team to execute the product strategy and align organisational capabilities with development plans that realise the vision.
Serve as the primary technical liaison to customers and key stakeholders, maintaining regular contact and representing BOLD's engineering organisation while guiding the team to deliver projects successfully.
Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, on budget and in line with BOLD's vision.
Work closely with the Supply Chain Liaison and Manager to ensure new product developments are scalable and that operations have the information required to execute manufacturing as expected.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies and competitive developments to ensure BOLD products are safe, reliable and certified to the appropriate standards.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, encouraging experimentation and exploration of new ideas that advance BOLD's vision with lower risk and higher safety and reliability.
Qualifications
Minimum of 15 years of experience in senior or leadership roles within motorsport, defence or highly innovative sectors, with significant exposure to battery technologies.
Proven track record of successfully bringing high‐performance products from concept to market, aligning with BOLD's vision and mission.
Ability to travel as required.
Experience and competence with design software such as 3Dx or NX.
Willingness to work long hours and occasional weekends to support critical project milestones.
Strong leadership skills and proactive attitude in a high‐pressure environment.
Up‐to‐date technical awareness of business requirements.
Fluent in English.
Skills
Highly technical in engineering and manufacturing, able to quickly grasp issues and lead the team to solve problems to meet customer and internal project needs.
Deep expertise in battery technology and engineering fundamentals, including structure, manufacturing, HV control systems and electronics.
Capable of overcoming technical or project challenges when information is limited, maintaining safety, quality, output and efficiency targets.
Self‐driven with a high sense of ownership and the ability to organise and prioritise tasks with minimal leadership feedback.
