The Role :
We are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Administrative Director to join our dynamic team and provide leadership across a wide range of management and support functions. This role is essential in ensuring smooth operations, fostering a supportive environment for research, and adapting to global challenges with a focus on digital transformation and sustainability. You will work closely with the Director and senior management to translate scientific vision into operational strategies. The Administrative Director will oversee functions such as Finance, Purchasing, IT, Human Resources, Legal, Facilities, and Health & Safety, managing complex projects within an international environment to align operations with strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities :
* Strategic Leadership : Support the Director in developing the institute's policies and strategies, ensuring alignment with scientific and operational objectives.
* Team Oversight : Lead departments including Finance, Purchasing, Grants Management, IT, HR, Health & Safety, Legal, Facilities, Operations, and Corporate Projects, overseeing approximately 70 staff members.
* Financial Management : Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and safeguard assets through sound practices.
* Human Resources : Lead recruitment, staff development, and team-building initiatives.
* Regulatory Compliance : Ensure operations comply with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
* Governance Liaison : Collaborate with the Board of Trustees on policies and management.
* Legal Representation : Sign official documents, including contracts and procurement matters.
* Process Improvement : Promote continuous improvement by implementing management systems, processes, and KPIs to enhance efficiency.
Professional Experience and Skills :
* Experience : At least 5 years of management experience, preferably in an international research or scientific organization.
* Leadership : Proven ability to lead multi-functional, multicultural teams.
* Policy Formulation : Experience in developing and implementing policies for governing bodies.
* Financial Acumen : Experience managing budgets and financial planning.
* Project Management : Strong skills overseeing complex projects.
* Knowledge of public sector regulations applicable to research foundations.
Educational Background :
* Required : University degree in Business Administration, Law, or related fields.
* Desirable : MBA or similar qualifications.
* Alternatively : Degree in Life Sciences with an MBA or equivalent experience.
Languages :
* Fluent in English (spoken and written).
* Proficiency in Spanish and Catalan or willingness to learn upon joining.
