Fiber Optic Installation Technician, ID Capacity Install
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The infrastructure delivery team is responsible for scaling and physical deployment of new data center infrastructure. In this entry‐level role you will install cabling and new racks within data centers, adhering to safety best practices and standard processes.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Adhere to security and safety best practices in the data center.
* Install and manage structured cabling infrastructure including fiber optic and copper connections.
* Perform advanced troubleshooting of network connectivity issues.
* Execute complex installation procedures following AWS standards and best practices.
* Coordinate with Infrastructure Delivery teams to ensure seamless capacity deployment.
* Maintain accurate documentation and inventory management.
* Manage inventory of related materials.
* Adhere to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of structured cabling systems and network topologies.- Knowledge of network testing equipment and procedures.
Physical Requirements
* Position may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations.
* Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with regulations).
* Work at heights and from ladders.
* Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.
Educational & Experience Requirements
* High school or equivalent diploma.
* Age 18 years or older.
* Availability to work 40 hours per week, including overtime as required.
* Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
* English level B1.
* Knowledge of computer hardware components and operating systems.
* STEM classes or vocational course curriculum education.
* Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system and coordination with a manager.
