As part of the team working on the GAIA mission, you will have the following responsibilities:
* Working on an astronomical precision astrometry mission developing;
* Maintaining software and algorithms in a multi national environment;
* Developing new software to support space mission needs;
* Maintaining existing project software;
* All phases of the software cycle: specifications, preliminary designs, development, integration, testing, and final release of production software.
Skills & Experience
You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:
* Masters degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Space Systems Engineering, Physics, or related specialization;
* Experienced Numerical JAVA programmer;
* Knowledge of Gaia or at least astronomy;
* Experience with Linux;
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to present and effectively communicate quality system processes;
* Results oriented and good relationship management;
* Good organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work in a diverse team environment;
* Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
This job is located in Madrid, Spain. The role has a temporary contract until the end of the year.
