About Us
At THEKER, we’re taking on one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century: redefining how physical work gets done in the world.
We are a robotics and AI company building intelligent, adaptable systems that solve problems traditional automation never could. From Barcelona, our mission is to create a generation-defining company leading the robotics revolution.
By joining us, you will have the chance to do the most meaningful work of your life, setting a new standard for industrial automation and driving breakthroughs with global reach, while being surrounded by a focused, talent-dense team that shares this ambition and is here to win.
Your role:
We are looking for a Financial Controller to own THEKER's financial operations during this critical phase of growth.
Your mission is clear: build the financial infrastructure, establish controls, and give leadership full visibility over the company's financial health at all times. You will own day-to-day financial operations, from cash management and month-end close to cost control and compliance, ensuring the company runs with discipline and accuracy.
This is a hands-on, operational role. You will work closely with the founding team on financial decisions as they arise, but your primary focus is execution: keeping the books clean, the numbers accurate, and the processes running without gaps.
What we’re looking for
* Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
* Solid experience in financial controlling, accounting, or FP&A roles.
* Hands-on experience with month-end close, cost control, and cash management.
* Experience in high-growth or transformation environments.
* Ability to build financial models from scratch and drive decisions based on data.
* High attention to detail and ability to operate independently with limited guidance.
* Fluent English. Spanish is a plus.
* Based in Barcelona or willing to relocate (100% on-site role).
Nice to have
* Experience in startups, hardware companies, or tech environments.
* Knowledge of Spanish accounting and tax regulations.
* Experience managing public funding or grants (CDTI, Torres Quevedo, etc.).
* Exposure to audit preparation processes.
You’ll thrive at THEKER if
* You're excited by a fast-paced and ambitious environment. The opportunity ahead of us is enormous, and we're going all in to capture it.
* You want responsibility early on, delivering at world-class standards.
* You enjoy building processes from scratch and making order out of ambiguity.
* You're open to feedback, collaborative, and comfortable making decisions with imperfect information.
Main Responsibilities:
* Own the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Manage cash flow, burn rate, and runway tracking with regular reporting to leadership.
* Control operating expenses, process vendor invoices and payments, and manage accounts payable.
* Maintain the general ledger, reconcile bank statements, and keep the chart of accounts clean and up to date.
* Prepare and monitor budgets by department, tracking actuals vs. plan and flagging variances proactively.
* Support audit processes and ensure compliance with local tax and accounting regulations.
* Build simple financial models to support operational decisions (headcount planning, project costing, capex tracking).
* Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, and banking contacts.
* Design and implement financial controls and approval workflows as the team grows.
What We Offer
* Being part of a fast-growing robotics and AI company with genuine ambition, where your career can accelerate alongside us.
* The chance to make a real impact from day one, building financial infrastructure that matters.
* A focused, talent-dense team where your work is visible and your decisions count.
* An environment where new ideas are encouraged and your contributions shape both the operations and the company.
* 100% on-site work in Barcelona.
What the process looks like
* Intro call with Martín (Chief of Staff).
* Business case at our offices (2h).
* Conversation with the founders.
* Conversation with one of our investors.
These steps can be completed in 7 days.
