A leading European Contract Research Organization (CRO) specializing in bioanalytical services for biopharmaceutical development is seeking an experienced Business Development Director to support continued commercial expansion. The organization provides advanced bioanalytical testing solutions for small and large molecules, supporting preclinical and clinical drug development programs.
Role Summary
The Business Development Director will be responsible for driving revenue growth across Europe by identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities within the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. The role requires a strong scientific foundation combined with proven commercial success in bioanalytical CRO services.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and secure new business opportunities in bioanalytical services (e.g., PK/PD, LC-MS/MS, ligand binding assays, biomarkers, immunogenicity, cell-based assays).
* Develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve revenue targets.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with biotech and pharmaceutical decision-makers (R&D, Clinical Development, CMC, Procurement).
* Lead the full sales cycle from prospecting through proposal development, negotiation, and contract execution.
* Translate complex scientific capabilities into tailored commercial solutions.
* Collaborate closely with scientific, laboratory, and operational teams to align customer needs with technical capabilities.
* Represent the organization at industry conferences, partnering events, and client meetings.
* Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting and CRM reporting.
Required Qualifications
* Advanced scientific degree (MSc or PhD) in Life Sciences, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or related field strongly preferred.
* Minimum 5+ years of experience within a CRO environment ideally focused on bioanalytical services.
* Strong scientific understanding of bioanalytical methodologies and regulated laboratory environments (GLP/GCP).
* Proven track record of generating and closing new business in the CRO sector.
* Deep understanding of the drug development lifecycle (preclinical to clinical).
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
* Ability to travel within Europe as required.
