Responsibilities
* Develop detailed "Should-Cost" models for powertrain components (e.g., transmission housings, crankshafts, battery modules, cast or machined parts).
* Analyze manufacturing processes (casting, forging, CNC machining, assembly) to determine cycle times, overheads, and labor costs.
* Evaluate global raw material indices, energy costs, and logistics expenses to ensure accurate pricing.
* Collaborate closely with the Purchasing department to evaluate supplier quotes during the RFQ (Request for Quotation) phase.
* Participate in technical-commercial negotiations with suppliers to reconcile price discrepancies based on data‑driven process analysis.
* Identify and vet new suppliers or manufacturing technologies that offer cost advantages.
* Partner with R&D teams during the early design phases to influence component geometry and specifications to meet cost targets (Value Engineering).
* Propose alternative materials or process simplifications that reduce costs without compromising functionality or durability.
* Monitor cost evolution throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept to SOP (Start of Production).
* Maintain and update internal cost databases, including global labor rates and material benchmarks.
* Prepare and present cost status reports and gap analyses to executive management.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Manufacturing) or Technology Management.
* English language is mandatory, other languages are an advantage.
* Minimum 3–5 years in a similar role (Cost Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Technical Purchasing) within the Automotive industry.
* Strong technical knowledge of Powertrain systems (either ICE or EV/Electrification).
* Deep understanding of metal forming, casting, precision machining, heat treatment, and automated assembly.
* Advanced MS Office skills (specifically Excel: pivot tables, lookups, and macros).
* Strong negotiation and persuasion skills with a data‑driven approach.
