Offer Description
Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent) in Physics/Biophysics/Chemistry/Biochemical Engineering or related areas but should most importantly have extensive and proven research experience in modelling DNA interactions using supercomputers (for example, https://dipc.ehu.eus/es/centro-supercomputacion at DIPC and executing programs that require a high calculation power, such as GROMACS, Gaussian, Caterpillar, ROSETTA, AlphaFold, or Maestro-Schrödinger. The research will be conducted within the framework of a scientifically demanding European collaboration (www.funambulist.eu ) funded by the European Innovation Council.
Required Skills/Qualifications
• Expertise in the simulation of biological systems and computational design of artificial proteins
• Knowledge of ab initio methods, density functional theory (DFT), molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, Monte Carlo (MC) simulations, protein design, protein structure prediction, clustering methods
• Excellent communication skills
• Very good command of written and spoken English is required (if preselected, a virtual meeting will be held before the final selection).
The selected candidate is expected to conduct her/his research independently, proactively and creatively. The ambition to develop excellence science with high scientific rigour is indispensable. The candidate is furthermore expected to proactively participate in the dissemination of the research results and in contributing to management tasks of the project.
The candidate will benefit from a straight collaboration between the Nanobioseparations Group at POLYMAT and the ARNA laboratory at IECB/University of Bordeaux with the research taking place in both locations and furthermore supported by the LTC Incubator "BioMINT" within the Euskampus initiative (www.ltcsarea.eu/en/biomint ).
