Construction Project Manager, EMEA Construction (Substations) – Amazon Data Services Spain, S.L. Job ID:. Amazon's High Voltage (HV) infrastructure assets are industry leading examples of highly efficient, resilient, and sophisticated electrical systems. We are the global team responsible for building the HV infrastructure that powers Amazon's cloud business. The Construction Project Manager is responsible for oversight and review of all disciplines including civil, electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural. The role leads cross-functional teams to drive delivery of assigned projects through the execution stage. The role will be based in Zaragoza, Spain.
Responsibilities
* Manage construction project activities related to new substation and transmission line projects in Spain, including ownership of scope, timeline, and budget.
* Interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and closeout/punch list phases.
* Collaborate with general contractors and vendors to deliver efficient, high-quality project turnovers in line with electrical utility requirements.
* Lead negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy.
* Create construction project scope and requests for proposals;
conduct construction submittal review.
* Oversee construction quality control, develop a commissioning plan, and support the commissioning process.
* Lead internal and external teams supporting project execution;
manage multiple projects concurrently.
* Record and report key metrics to team members and senior management;
perform financial analysis of construction work including change orders, purchase orders, and invoicing.
* Drive troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for equipment or electrical failures;
coordinate with real estate teams on easements;
manage permits and public domain access with AHJs.
* Value engineering to reduce costs without impacting quality or reliability (new designs, technology, or construction methods).
* Travel to sites for leadership walk-downs, audits, inspections, start-up testing, and full commissioning;
up to 40% travel withinthe EMEA region.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
* Experience bringing new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
* Experience with MS Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems.
Preferred Qualifications
* Project management experience in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
* Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure.
