From Hays we are looking for a Senior Accountant to support their French legal entities from Bilbao.

The Role
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the full accounting cycle of French legal entities, including:
* Ensure accuracy and compliance of accounting records in line with IFRS and French GAAP, including verification of balances, reconciliations, provisions, stock movements, and loan updates.
* Prepare and record journal entries for assets, liabilities, stock, revenue, and expenses following Group policies and work instructions.
* Maintain balanced accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies.
* Review and validate travel and expense claims to ensure correctness and compliance.
* Ensure month‑end and year‑end closings are properly executed, including reconciliation of balance sheet items with complete supporting documentation.
* Prepare and coordinate financial reports in accordance with IFRS, Sibelco Group reporting standards, and local statutory requirements.
* Support and coordinate with internal and external auditors during the annual audit process.
* Prepare VAT and other tax filings, support external tax advisors, and manage tax inspections.
* Contribute to process improvements and participate in the implementation of new tools and systems.
* Perform additional tasks as required by management.
What We’re Looking For
* 8+ years of experience in in financial accounting/audit role being able to cover accounting general ledger, full Balance Sheet aspects
* M aster is Accounting, CPA/CIMA, CPC-AECA (Spanish diploma), DESCF (French diploma)
* Ideally with experience of manufacturing organization(s), complex international organizations
* A plus if has worked in France
* Strong knowledge of IFRS and ideally French GAAP
* Experience in international or manufacturing environments
* Proficiency in SAP and Excel; knowledge of reporting tools (e.g., Tagetik, OneStream) is a plus
* Fluent in French and English (Spanish is a plus)
* Detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative mindset
