Are you looking to take the technical lead on impactful digital projects within a integral, fast-growing environment? Our client, an established American digital marketing agency with offices across the US, France, the Philippines, and New Zealand, is opening its new hub in Barcelona. They partner with top-tier international brands to deliver high-impact digital experiences through innovation, collaboration, and continuous growth.
As one of the founding members of the Barcelona team, you will play a key role in shaping both the technical direction and the culture of the local office, while collaborating with teams across the globe.
Responsibilities and impact as a Lead Full Stack Developer
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable full‑stack and backend systems across multiple client projects and internal platforms
- Develop and maintain APIs and services using Java (Spring Boot / Java EE) and/or Node.Js (TypeScript)
- Design and optimize relational database schemas (Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL)
- Oversee architecture and delivery across multiple web portals, APIs, and backend services (20+ repositories)
- Implement and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS (Lambda, S3, API Gateway, RDS, etc.)
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations with external customer systems
- Drive the modernization of legacy applications and improve UI/UX across enterprise portals (React or Angular)
- Support AI‑driven features such as transcription, translation, and audio description enhancements
- Ensure system performance, scalability, security, and reliability
- Conduct code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and mentor developers
- Collaborate directly with product, operations, and clients for requirements, demos, and issue resolution
Skills, qualifications, and interests you need to succeed in this role
- 8+ years of experience in full-stack development, including technical leadership
- Strong experience in Java (Spring Boot / Java EE) and/or Node.Js (TypeScript)
- Comfortable with React or Angular (TypeScript preferred)
- Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services (Lambda, S3, API Gateway, RDS, etc.)
- Solid experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL)
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, security best practices, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working in large-scale, multi-service environments
- Strong communicator, comfortable interacting with both technical teams and clients
- Fluent in English;
any additional languageis a plus - Nice to have: serverless architecture, Docker, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), exposure to AI/ML or LLM-based features, media processing, or legacy system modernization
