Part Time Boarding House Assistant Role Profile at Lady Elizabeth School
The Boarding House Assistant position is a pastoral role. The House staff are expected to reside overnight when required and to support the day-to-day care of boarding students during duty periods and when boarders are in residence. The post reports to the Head of Boarding and the Boarding Houseparents.

Key Responsibilities
* Student Welfare and Safety: Ensure the safety and security of boarders at all times and support the welfare, health, safety, discipline, and care of students; uphold the Boarding Schools National Minimum Standards within the role.
* House Operations and Management: Assist in managing daily house routines (bedtimes, prep, wake-up calls, breakfast, bus coordination), complete and record daily room checks, supervise weekly changes of bed linen and washing of personal clothing, ensure the house is securely locked at night, and assist with end-of-term handovers.
* Academic and Recreational Support: Support boarders during study periods, arrange and accompany trips and excursions, and supervise weekly recreational activities.
* Administrative Duties: Keep accurate records of incidents and communications in the Day Book and handover notes; assist international boarders with processing documents by accompanying them to relevant offices.
* Meal Preparation: Be willing to prepare meals for boarders as needed, including weekends, holidays, and special occasions.
* Transportation: Occasionally drive students to school, activities, medical appointments, and accompany travel to local airports during travel days.
* Working Arrangements: Be flexible to operational needs, provide cover during staff absences, and be on duty as required during term and holiday periods; support safeguarding and other policies at all times.
* Safeguarding and Conduct: Adhere to safeguarding procedures and the School’s policies; comply with the Staff Code of Conduct and Dress Code.
Skills, Qualifications And Experience
* Experience in pastoral roles or roles requiring strong communication and administrative skills with high attention to detail.
* Languages: English essential; Spanish desirable.
* Passion for working with young people from diverse backgrounds.
* Commitment to achieving the best outcomes for staff, pupils, and parents, and to promoting the school ethos and values.
* Approachable with excellent interpersonal skills; willingness to learn, improve systems, and develop the role.
* Commitment to safeguarding of children and young people.
