As a Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE), you will be part of a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling fascinating and challenging problems building and supporting the operations of Amazon owned data centers. The Amazon Commissioning team (ACx) understands, evaluates, defines and manages the expectations of construction quality in accordance to engineering designs to meet the customer requirements.
Key job responsibilities include supporting vendors, contractors, and other teams involved in the construction and commissioning of various systems such as:

* Medium and low voltage power systems generators
* UPS
* HVAC (Air Handlers / Exhaust Fans / VFD)
* Chilled Water Systems
* Building Management systems (BMS)
* Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)
* Testing and balancing
* Pumps and Hydronic systems
You will provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including review of design documents and equipment submittals, leading Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and managing third‑party commissioning vendors in the performance of onsite pre‑functional, functional, and integrated systems testing. You will own project successes, deep dive to resolve technical issues, and respond to schedule impacts and coordination demands onsite, sharing lessons learned for team growth and program improvements.
A day in the life: The CxE works across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams to coordinate site activities, prioritize tasks, and ensure each issue has a clear path to resolution. The CxE manages the commissioning vendor executing functional tests, identifying issues, determining criticality, proposing solutions, and documenting findings. When project turnover is at risk, the CxE escalates to appropriate stakeholders and, upon completion, communicates lessons learned to help peers on similar projects.
About the team: The AWS Data Center Commissioning Team (ACx) is an independent business within the DCGS organization composed of veteran electrical, mechanical, controls engineers, project managers, and operators who review equipment designs, operational functionality, and construction practices to deliver quality products with transparency.
Basic Qualifications

* 3+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning experience of electrical and mechanical systems
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
* NETA or ASHRAE certification or commissioning‑specific education courses
* Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
* Experience designing, constructing, operating, or maintaining mission‑critical facilities, especially data centers
Preferred Qualifications
*
* Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
* Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
* Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production
* Experience using a variety of web‑based and other software tools for calculation and data processing

The base salary range for this position is listed above. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
