About BSC: The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is a leading supercomputing center in Spain, home to MareNostrum and the European HPC infrastructure PRACE. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D in computer and computational science, life, earth and engineering sciences.
Context and Mission: Lead by Prof. Alfonso Valencia, the Life Sciences department is developing Personalized Medicine through AI/ML methods. The department hosts 200 researchers in 5 research groups and 7 support units, providing transversal technical expertise in genomics, proteomics, imaging, simulation and AI.
Postdoctoral Researcher Role: As part of the BSC AI4Science Fellowships (AI4S), the postdoctoral researcher will contribute to one of the following research lines. Candidates must specify their preferred research line in their motivation letter.
Evaluation of biases in biomedical GenAI models
Development of LLMs models in genomics
Deep learning and image analysis in cancer
Specialised and explainable LLMs in medicine
Key Duties:
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists on the chosen research line.
Write research proposals and publish scientific findings.
Participate in technical meetings with internal and external collaborators.
Supervise junior researchers and provide career mentorship.
Requirements:
Education: PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, physics, machine learning or related fields.
Essential Knowledge and Experience: UNIX/Linux environments, Python or R programming, proven scientific publication track record.
Additional Knowledge: Experience in high performance computing, background or interest in life sciences, fluency in English (proficiency in Spanish and other European languages advantageous).
Competences: Ability to explore new research lines, excellent communication and presentation skills, teamwork in a multicultural environment.
Conditions:
Position location: BSC Life Sciences Department
Full‐time contract (37.5 h/week), flexible hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, relocation support.
Open‐ended contract linked to project and budget duration.
Salary: €45,000 per year.
Starting date: ASAP.

Competitive examination system ("Concurso‐Oposición"). The process consists of two phases:
1. Curriculum Analysis (40 points). 2. Interview phase (60 points) – a minimum of 30 points out of 60 is required for eligibility.
