Offer Description

Monodon, in collaboration with RMIT University, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the AuSpire Program, focusing on Laser Communications. Applicants are encouraged to propose research projects in developing disruptive laser communication technologies combined with quantum cryptography for secure links between naval platforms, satellites, airborne, and underwater nodes.

The AuSpire program, co-funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe, links Spanish and Australian research communities through 28 Postdoctoral Fellowships, centered on Planetary Wellbeing, aiming to address global challenges with impactful research.

The successful candidate will be employed in Spain for 36 months, with opportunities for international and intersectoral co-supervision and secondments in Spain and Australia for up to 12 months.

Candidate Requirements
* Strong background in free-space and/or underwater laser communications (4+ years)
* At least 6 publications, with 2-3 as first author in relevant journals
* Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
* Excellent presentation skills, independent thinking
* Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge in optical signal detection and analysis
* Programming skills (Python, C++, MATLAB)
* Familiarity with optical signal modulation and processing
* Experience with optical and electronic simulation software (MATLAB, COMSOL, ZEMAX, LabVIEW)
* Knowledge in model-based systems engineering
