Savoury flavour development manager

P At GBfoods we offer culinary solutions in several countries of Europe and Africa with prestigious leading local brands, including Jumbo, Gallina Blanca, Erasco, Gino, Liebig, Star, Bama, DL, Grand#39;Italia and Blå Band, among others. /pp Our Purpose “Celebrating local flavours” is to empower and take care of each of the local communities we belong to and to bring out their authentic flavours. Some of our local brands have been in consumers#39; kitchens for over a century and have positioned themselves as authentically loved brands, as well as deeply rooted parts of the local culture. /pp Today, with a turnover of around 1,4 billion euros and a team of around 3.600 people, we are the preferred choice of millions of consumers. /pp We are seeking a highly skilled Development Scientist to design and develop innovative flavouring ingredients for internal use across Africa GBfoods#39; product portfolio. This role focuses on leveraging advanced technologies to create ingredients that enhance flavour, taste, and overall sensory experience. /pp Key Responsibilities: /pulli Develop new savoury umami flavouring ingredients using different technologies like vegetable protein hydrolyses, thermal processing (maillard reactions) or biotechnology techniques like fermentation. /lili Maintenance and optimization of our flavouring portfolio and creation of flavour systems that deliver impactful taste enhancement for bouillons and seasonings, sauces and ready meals. /lili Explore and apply emerging flavour technologies and raw materials to meet consumer trends and sustainability goals. /lili Conduct lab and pilot trials to validate ingredient performance, stability and cost-efficiency. /lili Work closely with product developers or culinary chefs to integrate new ingredients into GBfoods#39; recipes. /lili Partner with suppliers, academia and tech centers to source and co-develop innovative solutions. /lili Perform sensory analysis and flavour profiling to ensure ingredient quality and consistency. /lili Ensure all developed ingredients comply with food safety regulations and internal quality standards. /li /ul p Requirements: /p p Qualifications Experience: /pp Education: /pulli Master#39;s or PhD in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related field. /li /ulp Experience: /pulli 5+ years in flavour creation or ingredient development within savoury food companies or flavour houses. /lili Hands-on experience with fermentation, Maillard reaction systems, and hydrolyzed proteins. /li /ulp Skills: /pulli Strong understanding of flavour chemistry and sensory science. /lili Ability to translate consumer insights into technical solutions. /lili Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills. /li /ulp Preferred Background: /pulli Previous experience in flavourist companies. /lili Familiarity with food ingredients in global markets with special knowhow on Africa markets and culinary habits. /li /ulp What do we expect from you? /pp Our values define us and we expect you to show Authenticity, Proximity, Ownership and Joy to create true GBhood! /p
